Fall Happenings Many activities have been tediously planned this fall by Student Council for the entertainment and mental well being of West ' s students. Dull, hum-drum lunches have been brightened with the outstanding gleeful singing of our choral groups, where individuals have a chance to share their talents as do groups. Ah, they really do make lunchtime more enjoyable for everyone. The mid-day mealtime entertainment also includes bands who play for free to audition for dances. Some proved to play exquisite music and resulted, in time, in performing for future dances. Among these talented groups included Oasis and the Army Rock Band. In mid-October West brought a professional rock group. Volker, Dunham and Heard, to perform for the enjoyment and thrill of all. Some of their performance featured Dueling Banjos and many of their own works. Before and during the concert they handed out posters and used dry ice as they entered the stage, creating an atmosphere of intense excitement. This fall ' s Sockhop, sponsored by the Sophomore class, was quite a hit. Friday afternoon the students dressed in bobby socks, rolled jeans, slicked back hair and pony tails to set the mood of the 50 ' s. That night the dance, which was held after the football win over South, really swung with music played by the Rock and Roll Revival. And then, this fall ' s optional assembly featured pantaminist James Paskel. His performance in the bandshell included his version of The Box and immitations of Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors at a drinking fountain. The people who came enjoyed the sunny out- door atmosphere and super talent of Paskel, to say the least. â– penmgs I

WEST ??% HIGH Once a year you can have a hearty feast in West ' s cafeteria. The annual pancake breakfast, held in early Oc- tober, consisted of delicious pancakes and savory sausages. The fine food was prepared by the coaches, served by the Hostess Service Club, and, what little was left over, was cleaned up by the Varsity Football team. The breakfast was hosted by the Letterman ' s Club and the Hostess Service Club. For the low cost and the good food, the deal can ' t be beat. See you there next year. 1 Right: Carol Frehse and Sue Franks taste test for Aunt Jemima. Bottom: Coach Miite Eaton dishes it out. Pancake 22 Breakfast
