Guitar Society The Guitar Society is an informal gather- ing place for all kinds of musical styles and ideas. Students share ideas and techniques with each other. The Society is also a place for guitarists to perfect their skills and to play before an audience. Every level of skill is represented from just learning to ad- vanced classical guitar. Forensic Club The Forensics Club ana- lyzes methods of communi- cation in this complex so- ciety. Under the leadership of President Kayse Hoo- ver and the supervision of Sponsor Robert Pickard, they attend speech and de- bate tournaments through- out the South Bav area. Student Exchange Club Ah, it tis a small world af- ter all, and this years Student Exchange Club helped to wel- come two exchange students to West, Nobuko Harata from Japan, and Lena Hansen from Sweden. Though the Club is largely devoted to exchanging students and finding them homes, they do many other activities as well. The goal of the club is to show the vari- ety of countries, but more im- portantly, to show the many more similarities between people and nations. Drama Club To be or not to be, that is a question which the Drama Club probably hears quite often, as they produce two major pro- ductions each year and sponsor worthwhile field trips to the Music Center, and elsewhere, to see pro- fessional productions. Ah, but take note. Ye non- members, although the Drama Club members are more intensely involved in these and other drama- oriented happenings, all activities are open to any West Hiah student. Chess Club The Chess Club is a meet- ing of patient and intellegent minds in a difficult and chal- lenging game of chess. Spon- sored by Mr. Harris, the Chess Club hosts their own tourna- ment at West High which is open to all West High stu- dents as well as taking part in other tournaments in the South Bay Area. Sponsored by Mrs. Colbaugh and Mr. Akins and under the lead- ership of President Jim Singstock, C.S.F. has provided a special tutoring program available to West High Students in various subjects. Members also receive merit passes which entitle them to special library privileges.
