Cagers Spring Upsets Under their new coach Gene Lloyd, the Warrior cagers struggled to an 8-15 season record. A 3-7 league record was made more liveable because of two big wins over North and Rolling Hills. For the first time ever. West downed North 63-60 after being down 20 points in the third quarter. Ocean League Champions Rolling Hills were upset in the ex- citing last game of the season 71-58. The Titans couldn ' t handle the Warriors all season. In a tournament game earlier this season, the Titans fell 57-48. Another highlight was a narrow 69-68 win over Torrance. This was only the second time the Warriors defeated the Tartars and the forst time in eight years. Our best offensive showing was an 86-61 slaughter of Bishop Montgomery, a C.I.F. play-off team. Every player on the team scored. The disappointing season was also brightened by our Fifth Place finish in the 16 team Hawthorne Tournament. Russ Kinder was named to the All Tournament Team. Center Daryl Ault and forward Rick Schwenn shared leading scoring honors. Ault averaged 13 points per game for the season and Schwenn averaged 14.6 points per game for the season. Ault and Schwenn also di- vided top rebounding marks. Ault lead the team for the season while Schwenn led the team during league play. Captain Gordon Haas led the team in steals and assists. Daryl Ault was named Most Valuable Player while Mike Blann was named Most Improved Player.
