Band The Warrior Varsity Band under the direction of Mr. Large participated in numerous activities. These activities involved spirited half-time shows during football season, quality music at basketball games, representing West at parades and serious evening concerts. Attainments of the band include various awards won at parade competitions. The most notable awards were: 1st place band, majorettes and drum major at Lomita; 1st place band and drum major, 2nd place majorette team at the Haw- thorne Band Review; 1st place drum major, 2nd place ma- jorettes at the West Arcadia Band Review; 1st place band and drum major at the Rosemead and Hermosa Beach Boy Scout parades; and 2nd place drum major, 3rd place band at the All-Western Band Review. The Annual Pops Concert featured the Advanced, Inter- mediate and Frosh Concert Bands. Suppletory entertain- ment was provided by the drum-corps and auxiliary units. Maximum enjoyment was presented to the audience at the Spring Concert. Many fund-raising events were held during the past couple of years to earn money for new uniforms and shakos.
