Administrators prcrricte education Generally speaking, faculTy and sTudenT body can look wiTh pride on The school year T957-l958. We have done well in academic pursuiTs, in aThleTics, music and oTher acTiviTies. Howe ever, This year marks a greaT change. We are all mindful of Trends and The em- phasis placed on Them over a period of years. CerTainly The presenT Trend, and by ThaT l mean The emphasis upon more and beTTer academic work in high school, is one of meriT. More is expecied of sTudenTs, more will be expecTed. Requiremenfs are going up. a T . WhaT does all This mean To you as a high school sTudenT? More academic courses are lexpecfed and a beTTer qualiiy of work is like- wise expecTed. ln reTurn your high school diploma will have greaTer significance To you. The needs of our naTion have helped To bring abouT This change which in iTself is naTion wide. To keep pace, you will puT in more efforT and will of course derive a greaTer measure of saTisfacTion. The dividends To you should be greaTer. BUT iT will sTill depend on you. EI MR. FRED GRAHAM, Principal I would like To address a few remarks To VVesT High STudenTs, pariicularly seniors, abouT Their fuTure success. Success is relaTive. To some iT means pleasanT ,consTrucTive work wiTh people They enioy, founding a happy home, saving enough To own Their own homes and provide an income for old age reTiremenT, and having a couple of weeks a year for vacaTion. Oihers are hardly conTenT wiTh This, know- ing ThaT Their abiliTies can lead Them To furfher accomplishmenTs. BuT coupled wiTh abiliTy musT be The sTrong desire To plan, To work, To forego pleasures oThers enjoy in order To reach a goal. If you will be saTisfied wiTh noThing less Than a Top iob, you musT counT The cosT of The upward climb. You musT face The facT Thai' The compeTiTion is keen. You musT culTivaTe iudgmenf. You musT concenTraTe on your obiecTive. You will find The road is sfeep. BUT many Think The Top jobs are worTh The hard climb. Do you? Then, more power To you! Your fuTure is whaT you make iT. MR. NORMAN RICHARDSON, Vice Principal 101
