Taking second place in the minds of these war conscious students, was the dream of entering the spacious and modern new high school. OUR DREAMS CAME TRUE and to the classes of '47 and '48, we dedicate this, our '46 CAT LOG, with the hope that their dreams of an auditorium, a stadium and ever- lasting peace will also come true. At last, as Seniors, We entered the new school and returned to a full day schedule. DON ELLIS led our class as president with PHIL KECK assisting him as vice president. Other oflicers were LORNA LEE LICHTER, treasurer, SHIRLEY PHILLIPS, secretary, and KATHERINE EDER, student council representative. That year, more precious than any other, will long be remembered as we showed our dramatic talent in the senior play, A Little Honey, and our love for fun on the Senior Sneak, but this lighter vein was tossed aside as our Class of '46 proved, by our earnestness at Baccalaureate and Commence- ment, that we are prepared for the future. C., Mr. Scheyer has a good understanding of boys which makes him an excellent boys' adviser. His prospects for football and baseball are very good for the coming two years. Known to all sophomore boys as a great coach and friend, Tinie johnson has done much in the development of line basketball and basesball players. Mr. Robert Scott, tennis coach, has tried hard to get tennis courts at B. H. S. this year. Superb ball handling, accur ate shooting, and unrelenting drive, made the Wildcats one of the strongest teams in the state. Playing the race horse style of ball, the Wildcats finished the season with 27 wins out of 29 startes, winning the cross-state league title, west central district tournament title, and placing second in the state tournament. Of the individual members of the team, not enough can be said. Not only are they skilled in basketball, but they have the traits of good, clean sportsmanship, which is so greatly valuable To the Bremerton High School basketball team goes our great est respect and admiration. VOD VIL The annual Vodvil is the only all-school production presented by the high school. It is managed by the students from production to advertising to program design to stage design and on. This year's production was managed by GENE REILLY, assisted by AL HAUGEN. Business was managed by RUSTY KING, who was assisted by JIM PRESTON. The only teachers responsible for the Vodvil were MISS FRASER, MR. TREPUS, and MISS WOOD- WARD. Miss Fraser will long be remembered for her line help of seeing that things kept moving continu- ally. Mr. Trepus did a fine job of stage construction, and Miss Woodward made an exceptionally line back drop for the stage. These teachers, however, only acted as overseers, while the actual work was done by the students. The co-operation of the United States Navy here in Bremerton, has helped us immensely. Permission to use uniforms and even the use of Waves' uniforms was all made possible by the Navy. I should like to thank all those students who helped with the production and especially those who were members of the cast. Thanks should also be given to Mr. Martin, whose co-operation was essential for success. This year's Vodvil met with many obstacles which were always met with determination that the Vodvil would be a success. We feel that our goal - to give Bremerton High School a college style production - has been accomplished. GENE REILLY. 'Tl' 'll 'lf ff-1 ca filth ni 1 W-ff f 4 D ..-if 1 TW J X' L E E 1 SENIOR PLAY E 3 5 S ' W 39, 'Fas Q i I , I I ' it A Little Honey was a three-act play presented by the senior class. It was the story of a sophisticated girl who was very intelligent. The girl had been taught by her mother that the way to a man's heart was through knowledge of his hobbies. However, she found she had been using the wrong tactics when an old beau of hers came back on a week's leave from the navy. Her grandma helped by giv- ing her a few man-catching hints. The cook was on the rampage, a Southern widow had tossed her income problems on the lap of the girl's father and tried to toss herself there too, and her grandma was troubled-by a nurse. On top of this, the girl was trying to get her man. The production had many outpouring incidents, hilarious business, and roaring humor. A dual cast for some of the characters was featured in this outstanding produc- tion. The characters were: Mrs. Minton, played by Shirley Bushaw and Margie Gran- zowg Mr. Minton, played by Herb Waddell, Grandma Thornton, played by Ruthe Rahm and Shirley Quackenbush, a Southern widow, played by Bennie Tomilsong lovely Diana, played by Elizabeth Leach and Charlene Hewitt, her adored Tom, who was Phil Keck, the cook, who was Lois Hood, a trained nurse, who was Elaine Short, adorable Jerry, who was Shirley Phillips, and Carol Fry, her adoring Albert, played by jim Olsen, Scoots, who was Jeanne Radabaugh and Shirley Terry, and a Sure-Shot exterminator man, played by Jerry Flieder. ni TH DES RTSONG S paaai ' ffm B , is N . llX x ea The Bremerton High School music department presented their third operetta April 5 and 6. The Desert Song was chosen and directed by Mr. Berg, head of the music department. Those who witnessed the performance would readily agree that it was one of the finest ever produced by Bremerton High. The cast and chorus worked tirelessly for months but their Work was not in vain. Don Thulean portrayed the lead, Pierre, and Pat Wright portrayed Margo. Other mem- bers of the cast were Edith, Dorothy Gangnathg Lieut. La Verne, Bob Hackerg Lieut. de Bousssac, Wes Langrallg Bennie, Harry Pollg Susan, Doris Donaldson, Capt. Paul Fontaine, Merton Lambertg Azuri, Betsy Forsythe, General Berabeau, Derrick Cronkhiteg Clementina, Dolores Quinnellg Ali Ben Ali, Delfred Olsong Sid, jim Hullg Hassie, Harley Ol- song Mindar, Babe Chase and Hadjie, Bill Wilson. 'erhaps one of the best features about Brem- crton High School is the fact that the students are allowed to manage their own productions -the Senior Play, assemblies, Cat Log, and Lair. It is the latter about which we write. The most widely used of an all- student result is the Wildcat's Lair, Bremerton High newspaper. Under the advisership of Miss Barbara Huston, we, and the rest of the staff have enjoyed working on this publication for the two school semesters. We most certainly appreciate the idea that holds true in B. H. S. -that students must cooperate as a whole io produce a finished product. And that is what the Lair is, a completed production, mooling the ability of all students taking gournalism. jerry Flieder, Marjorie Peterson, Eveline Kinder and Ruth Goehrs were the mainstays the editorial staff. It was through the of these students that the Lair was able secure its information for front page news uthe Rahm, Bette Hawkins, and Beverly kept the feature page one of a humor and light nature. The staff worked under a handicap this year as not all staff members could be permitted to Work in the office. We wish to thank the custodians for their patience in with- standing the noise and confusion that naturally go with editing an annual. The production of an annual is a long and drawn out process but more interesting work would be hard to find. The senior editors, headed by Nita Cummings, also started to work immediately with the senior write- ups which were both original and clever. Throughout the year Steve Kerr could be seen snapping pictures of clubs, sports events, and activities. Pat Collins worked tirelessly, printing and developing the Cat log work. From football season in November to baseball K., E5 QR season in May, Bob West and Jack Verhs worked in pre- paring the athletic section. Their careful planning and careful work made up one of the finest sections in the annual. a To the editorial staff, the phtography staff, Patty Sockwell and Kenny Loefelman, and to other business staff members, who scheduled and re-scheduled pictures, I wish to extend my thanks for your excellent work and cooperation. It is with satisfaction and pride that I look upon the work you have achieved this year.
