Janice Reese ACTIVITIES Service is Synonynous with Tri-Ai-Y Tri-Hi-Y girls joined together in Octo- ber to wish Steve Zollinger a successful kidney transplant. Answering the request for financial assistance to pay for the $30,000 surgery, Tri-Hi-Y members col- lected over seven hundred dollars at West and in wishing-well booths set up in Hendersonville. Teachers were next to benefit from the service of Tri-Hi-Y as the girls served refreshments on “Teacher Appreciation Day” and at Christmas. As usual, the girls volunteered their service to the YMCA, their parent organi- zation, where they taught gymnastics and manned the desk. Blair Justice Monogram Club . a Ge Treasurer ... .Beverly Haynes ; ETT lettered athletes organization Membership of the Monogram Club consists of athletes who have lettered in a sport during his attendance at WHS. The requirements for lettering varies with the specific sport participated in; however, in all sports this means hard work, dedication, and skill. The main project of the club this year was the purchasing of athletic jackets or sweaters for students lettering for the first time. To provide funds for this project the club sponsored a sock-hop and a Faculty- Monogram Club basketball game.

ACTIVITIES French Club makes learning fun The French Club consists of those students who have a “B” average or above in French I or French II. The club is sponsored by Mrs. Driver. Its main purpose is to provide the better students with an opportunity to ex- pand their knowledge of the language and of France itself.
