Blair Justice Monogram Club . a Ge Treasurer ... .Beverly Haynes ; ETT lettered athletes organization Membership of the Monogram Club consists of athletes who have lettered in a sport during his attendance at WHS. The requirements for lettering varies with the specific sport participated in; however, in all sports this means hard work, dedication, and skill. The main project of the club this year was the purchasing of athletic jackets or sweaters for students lettering for the first time. To provide funds for this project the club sponsored a sock-hop and a Faculty- Monogram Club basketball game.

e) Mision ACTIVITIES A Library Science Club is organized ee AS a Sty In the interest of serving the students and Faculty the Library Science Club was formed. The main purpose of the club is to publicize new materials added to the Learning Resource Area and to work closely with departmental areas. This includes the preparation of biblio- graphies of materials related to the cur- riculum. This newly formed organization sponsared a book exhibit and a Faculty Coffee during National Library Week and Children’s Book Week. The Club is affiliated with the North Carolina High School Library Association. i i i i . Janice Reese ACTIVITIES Service is Synonynous with Tri-Ai-Y Tri-Hi-Y girls joined together in Octo- ber to wish Steve Zollinger a successful kidney transplant. Answering the request for financial assistance to pay for the $30,000 surgery, Tri-Hi-Y members col- lected over seven hundred dollars at West and in wishing-well booths set up in Hendersonville. Teachers were next to benefit from the service of Tri-Hi-Y as the girls served refreshments on “Teacher Appreciation Day” and at Christmas. As usual, the girls volunteered their service to the YMCA, their parent organi- zation, where they taught gymnastics and manned the desk.
