ACTIVITIES A time to plant ‘ The F.F.A. is exemplified by its emblem which is made up of five symbols: the owl, the plow, and the rising sun, within the cross section of an ear of corn, which is surmounted by the American eagle. The owl is symbolic of wisdom and knowledge, the plow is the symbol of labor and tillage of the soil; the rising sun is emblematic of progress and the new day that will dawn when all farmers are trained and have learned to co- operate; the cross section of an ear of corn represents common agricultural interests since corn is native to Amer- ica; and the eagle is indicative of the national scope of the organization. ACTIVITIES 2£n + 2HCI 2ZnCl1 + H ? The Science club is an organization for all students who have an interest in science. The club gives these people an opportunity to learn more about science. Various field trips to places of scientific interest are planned throughout the year. In addition, the club is planning to help the science department obtain necessary equipment. TOP: Pam Bowers observes various types of bacteria under a microscope. LEFT: President Steve Finney, Vice- President Pam Bowers, and Secretary Michele Beddingfield plan an experi- ment for their next meeting. BOTTOM: Mr. Ballard, sponsor, over- sees the Science Club performing an experiment during a regular meeting. i
