“Running Better” COMPETITION — The Name Of The Game AS YOU STEP UP TO GRADUATION DAY, the simple word, compete, may have a drab or at least a limited meaning to you. Like hoping your favorite baseball team will win the penant this year, as you watch them on the TV screen. REAL COMPETITION is more participative ... more active; and, we believe, is a part of every thing we do, every day. It’s the basis for our finding a better way to get the job done. THAT CONCEPT OF COMPETITION, we suggest, is truly the name of one of life’s ongoing games. It is part of your earning and winning a good education... of your getting accepted by a good college ... of your obtaining a good job . . . or even of your winning a mate with whom to share life. NORMALLY, we think of competition in sports. But it’s much more. It’s a total philosophy of life. Let’s combine the two concepts in these words of the late Coach Vince Lombardi— and they don’t come more competitive than Lombardi. He puts it this way: “You can’t win by running the same old play in the same old way. You need new variations and performance and you've got to run them better.”’ WE AT GE’S LIGHTING SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT wish you “good performance” in the competition you face during the years ahead.
