Talla Ce Pr Nu Pa‘ Thal th Pa 5 HALL OF FAME Naval Reserve Leadership Nominee The student selected to represent West Henderson in the Annual Naval Reserve Leadership Competition was Tom Warner. Tom participated in the three- county competition to select the most outstanding leader among Junior boys. Tom is involved as Beta Club President, a member of the Varsity Basketball team, Key Club, and Mono- gram Club. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Warner of Hendersonville. Key Club Lieutenant Governor National Science Foundation Stephen Finney was elected Lieutenant Governor of Division 1-B West by a caucus of delegates at the Key Club District Convention. This places him on the District Board and enables him to carry on the busi- ness of the Carolina’s District. Stephen was also selected to attend the National Science Foundation Summer Program at the Univer- sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there for six weeks he studied mathematics, computer pro- gramming, biology and astronomy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Finney, Jr. of Mills River. 238 0 | 7:

D.A.R. Good Citizen Award During the 1970 Awards Assembly Miss Terri Maxwell was selected by the Daughters of the American Revolution as the Good Citizen of West Henderson High School for the current year. She was chosen through her demonstration of the qualities of Dependability, Lead- ership, Service and Patriotism. Terri is currently active with the FALCON STAFF, Senior Vice-President of Keyettes, Drill Team Manager, Secre- tary of F.T.A., Monogram Club, Beta Club, Dramatics Club and Pep Club. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Maxwell of Hendersonville. Pilot Club Safety Essay Miss Kay Brackett was the West Hender- son High School winner of the Pilot Club Safety Essay Contest. The essay in itself was to be at least 2,000 words dealing with the “Teen-Ager Behind the Wheel’. Each winner received $25.00. Kay is active in Keyettes of which she is representative to Student Council, Junior Class Secretary and Homeroom Vice- President. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Brackett of Hoopers Creek.

HALL OF FAME District DECA Sweetheart On November 4, 1970 Kay Heaton won the title of Miss Deca at the Deca Convention. She competed along with twenty-six other girls who were graded On poise, speaking, color balance, make-up, personality and figure. They could score up to two hundred points. Kay received 196. She is now entitled to travel to Charlotte in April of 1971 to compete for the state title. Kay is presently active as secretary of the Deca Club. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Arnold Heaton of Hender- sonville. Civitan Youth Conference Tim Youell was chosen to attend Civitan Youth Conference for one week at Dungraggon Inn. There were delegates from many areas and activ- ities designed with emphasis on “un- derstanding through participation and involvement”’. Tim is presently active with the FALCON STAFF, Key Club, Beta Club and French Club. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. For- rest D. Youell of Hendersonville.
