Practice Makes Perfect! The success of our drill team has been attributed to the hard practice and team- work put into their routines. Win OF athletes are the managers and statisticians. In past years this group of ath- letes has not been given the recognition they de- serve for keeping shoot- ing charts, scorebooks, cleaning the locker rooms and field house, washing and drying tow- els and uniforms, and keeping the teams sup- plied with water and first aid during games. They share the teams’ joys and sorrows because they are a part o f these teams, and they deserve a pat on the back!

Drill Team... A Time To Dance”’ A whistle blows... the music begins to play and the 1970-71 Drill Team enters the gym with a show that people of all ages enjoy. The beautiful choreography that these girls produce is a fine example of the time taken to make West Hender- son proud of them. These girls deserve a great deal of appreciation for making West High’s drill team the best in Western North Carolina and the only successful one in Henderson County. “Would you like to buy a ribbon?” This is a question that all of us have heard at one time or another this year. Selling booster ribbons was one of the projects which these girls took on to raise money, and these ribbons served their purpose too. AS ecraicrcnern West High’s Own Muscle Men It has been a few years since West High has been No. | in any sport and our own ’70 — ’71 wrestling team has given us a position to be proud of — first in the Parkway Conference and third in Western North Carolina. This year’s team does not believe in luck — to them preparation is the key to their great success. These fellows have certainly dedicated themselves and their time to the team, some of them starving them- selves to keep their weight within the class they wrestle. This is only one of the significant incidents that shows the great will power that these guys have to be No. 1! So, in the coming year let’s get behind these grap- plers and keep them on the top!
