The FFA is an intra-curricular activity, having its origin and root in a definite part of the school curriculum--vocational agriculture. Among other things members learn through active participation how to conduct and take part in a public meeting, to speak in public, to buy and sell cooperatively, to solve their own problems, finance themselves, and to assume civic responsibility. The foundation upon which the Future Farmers of America organization is built includes leadership and character development, sportsmanship, cooperation, service, thrift, scholarship, improved agriculture, organized recreation, citizenship and patriotism.

The purpose of Le Cercle Fran¢ais has been to establish in the minds of its members an interest in the country of France by studying, not only the language, but the people, the customs, and their way of ites The members have planned and participated in the programs of learning, Each member had an active part in presenting a French program over the radio. Learning the French language was the ultimate goal, but learning about the people, their customs, and their way of life was equally important.

This was a very active year for the West High F.H.A, Many worthwhile projects were successfully completed. Thehighlight for the year was a trip to Broughton Hospital to deliver four hundred Christmas gifts that were collected by the members of the Henderson, Polk, and Transylvania F,H,A. chapters.
