The Block F Club of West Henderson was established in the fall of 1961 for the advancement of the athletic programs and the recognition of the students who have won letters by participating in one or more of the school's sports. The purpose of Block F is to promote better sportsmanship and further develop the sense of responsi- bility among its members through its service to West Henderson High School, The Block F Club was sponsored by Mr. Woodson. The major project for the year was the selling of Falcon shirts. The proceeds were used to finance a banquet in honor of all students participating in one of the school sponsored sports.

With the help of our advisors, Mrs. Lutz and Mrs. Griffin, we spent many hours in planning, making photographs, drawing layouts, soliciting ad- vertisements, identifying pictures, selling subscriptions and surviving the ever present pressure of meeting a deadline. Elaine Heffner Beta marshals for open house. The Beta Club is an organization that is dedicated to the principles of honesty, service, cooperation, responsibility, and industriousness. By promoting these principles a student is better qualified to contribute to the happiness of themselves and others. In today's society there is a need for the concentrated development of character, the leadership qualities, the desire to achieve, and the efforts to serve in the above-average high school youth. The Beta Club is a recognition for a job well done by these students, There is no better way of learning leadership than through participation. Developing ideas and suggestions, planning and organizing, committee work and reports, and evaluating are some of the disciplines cultivated by the Beta Club.
