AWARD Ruth Merrill was the winner at West Hender- son High School of the 1962 Betty Crocker Search for the American Homemaker of To- morrow. Ruth achieved the highest score on the homemaking knowledge and attitudes ex- amination that was given to the senior girls en- rolled in third-year home economics. Ruth was an active member of the Future Homemakers of America during her four years in high school, She received the state home- maker's degree, the highest award given to a | futurehomemaker. In 1962 McCall's Magazine chose Ruth as Teen Fashion Board Member. | Ruth is looking forward to entering the school of home economics at Woman's College of the University of North Carolina in the fall of 1962. BETTY CROCKER STATE HOMEMAKERS DEGREE Bobbye McCall, Linda Drake, Judy Drake, Ruth Merrill, Frances Gash, and Linda Scarborough should have special recognition for the work they have done while earning their State Homemaker Degrees, which were awarded at the State Convention. These girls have been working for F.H.A, since their first year in high school, and they have completed many projects to carry out the purpose of the F.H.A. organization. Because of their work, they have become better home and community members and have completed projects for the betterment of their state and nat ion.
