Class History Of The Class Cf 1963 Freshmen 1959-1960 Our Freshmen year was our last and most important year in the junior high. The American Legion Award was presented to Janet Astleford and John Bartko with Carol Stanalonis and Carl Schneider as the runners up. This year we won the Public- Parochial Basketball League with an undefeated season. Our Freshmen Day finally arrived on May 20th. The theme Television, successfully provided a most enjoyable program. That night we danced to the music of the Four Sharps. This concluded our Freshmen year. Sophomores 1960-1961 This year we became part of the senior high. We started off with a 7, 2, 1 football record. The highlight of the seasonwas our victory over Hazleton High School, when we brought home not only the Victory Trophy, but the first Sportsmanship Trophy. We were also successful in winning the Anthracite League Basketball Championship witha 20-3 record. On April 14th, we celebrated Sophomore Day which carried the theme Movies Are Better Than Ever. The annual Sophomore Dance was held that night in the gym with music by the Kingsmen. An undefeated baseball season closed the Sophomore chapter in our senior high life. Juniors 1961-1962 Our Junior year began, athletic wise, with a 5, 4 football record followed by an outstanding, victorious basketball season. On December 8th, we presented our Junior Class Play entitled A1most Eighteen to a full house. Our long awaited class rings arrived and we became full-fledged members of the school. Orbiting the Earth was our Junior Class Day theme, the date was May 11th. That night we had an enjoy- able evening, dancing to the music of the Glentels. Once again a great baseball season concluded another year in our book. Seniors 1962-1963 The first big event in this, our last year was Senior Day November 16th. Our theme, The Stars of 63, provided a wide range of talent for the program. The Glentels, once again, provided the music for a most enjoyable evening. In this our senior year we won permanent possession of the Sportsmanship Trophy and boasted a 6, 3 football record. At the annual Win or Weep Dance, Sonia Petruncio and Michael Christina were crowned Mr. and Miss West Hazleton High School. This year our Senior class presented the play, A Rocket in His Pocket, which proved to be a profitable and enjoyable production. We are looking forward to our Senior Prom in June and Commencement Exercises. The night of Commencement will mark the end of the best and most enjoyable days in our book of senior high life. ll
