Senior Class History Sophomores 1959-1960 The first big event in our high school days came in September 1959, when the class en- tered the Senior High School as Sophomores. It was a new and exciting experience which will always remain a part of us. The days passed quickly and soon the spirit of Christ- mas filled the halls. The mixed chorus pre- sented Christmas On Wax,', a musical with enjoyable Christmas carols. In February of 1960, the entire school presented the operetta, Sunbonnet Sue, in which many talented members of the Sophomore Class participated. Next came the annual Sophomore Day pro- gram, carring the theme of The Four Sea- sons. In the evening we danced to music by the Kingsmen,-and so ended our Sophomore Year. Iuniors 1960-1961 But along came September again, and back to the old grind- this time as Iuniors. The Wildcats completed a spectacular football season with a victory over Hazleton High School on Thanksgiving Day. We received our class rings and now were considered full- fleclged members of the school. Rehearsals were soon begun for the thrilling mystery Reserve Two For Murderf, presented in Feb- ruary to a full house. Once again we found ourselves preparing for a class day and it turned into a most enjoyable day and dance. Even though it rained on Iunior Day, West Hazleton High School was filled with Sun- shine. Seniors 1961-1962 Soon our summer vacation ended and we returned to school as Seniors! This was to be our big year, and so determined to start the year in proper style, the class presented its play lane Eyref, It was a huge success as was Senior Day on November 17. The class was convinced that it was the best in the history of the school. The days seemed to fly and soon Christmas was in the air. The chorus and band earnestly began rehearsing for their annual concert, and everyone seemed engrossed in Christmas activities. The class of 1962 is coming closer and closer to graduation. We happily spend our remaining school days here and try not to regret leaving, even though we know that Commencement and the Senior Prom will bring to a close the happiest years of our lives. Respectfully Submitted Esther Faust Diane Getz Class Historians

EU-,EEN ZUNSKI LEO STEADELE Deceased - 1960 CLASS POEM When we leave our dear West Hazleton High, We'll say farewell but not good-by. For how can we leave our memories dear, Of things that we cherish from year to year. Of what we,ve learned and friends we,ve met? They aren,t that easy to forget. We,ll use what you've taught to conquer each foe We,ll spread your fame where,er we go. The privilege to work andthe privilege to play, Are placed in our hands, where we know they will stay. Wefll guard priceless freedoms through day and through night. No one will surpass us, we,ll do our jobs right. We cannot express the way that we feel, For words are not made that will truly reveal The heartfelt sadness, the trembling joy, That circulates through each girl and boy, As they pass through these halls for the last time, No one can explain this feeling sublime. We,ll leave behind the good times we,ve had, The frolicking fun, both good and bad. It's no secret that when we go, Wesll leave behind what we love so. It,ll be so hard to say good-by, To our greatest friend, West Hazleton High! Rosemary Fogarty, Class Poet Class of 1962 28
