SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Just four years ago un the year l94O we enlisted un the services of the West Hazleton Hugh School Our officers the teachers of the Junior Hugh School led us well Traunung started ummeduately and we started on four hard years of work Many from our class were un the first Junior Hugh Dra matic Club play Life Beguns at Sixteen Our year passed quickly and we were now promoted to a hugher posutuon on the ladder which pounted toward graduatuon Our posutuon and officers were changed we were now transferred to the West Hazleton Senuor Hugh School Building We were consudered green at first but soon overcame thus for we had other things to worry about marks report cards and the thoughts of passung We were beginning to luke our traunung here and were gettung our subuects wuth flying colors Thus year rolled around quickly ut was now September l942 We had been promoted to the second rung of the ladder We now had to settle down to our hardest year our Junior year Well we got down to work but also found time for football and basketball games and other actuvutues Our hugh officers remauned the same but a few other officers were elected to lead us They were Officer un charge Jack Yuruck assustant to hum Edward Novat nak secretary Joe Czutno treasurer Edmund Zablocku We presented a Thomas Danuels and Edward Novatnak who left our class to uoun the U S Navy Thus year soon came to an end but the memory of ut stull lungers wuth us Wow' What a relief' We ve been promoted to the thurd and last rung of the ladder Just one more year of work ahead of us We had worked hard for three years so we couldn t slacken down now We had to keep up the good work for one more year so we could reach that goal we set out for graduatuon We elected new class officers they were Presudent Edmund Zablocku Vuce Presudent Donald Hull Secretary Violet Ranuo Treasurer John Blamey We presented a play entitled Professor How Could You a Sadue Hawkuns dance and a Whute Christmas dance all provung to be funan cual successes Together wuth the Improvement Club we also had a hypnotust appear at the school Sux more of our boys left for the armed forces They were Leo Yachera Frank Noaska Jummy Quinn Frank Yacuna Harold Yeager George Schegan and Wulluam Yost Funally after the Senuor Prom exams class pucnuc and class play grad uatuon came lt was not pleasant to leave all the pleasures of school behund but we have more to look forward to After these four years of traunung we are now prepared to go out unto lufe We have reached the goal we have struven to attaun graduatuon but we must now start toward the top of the ladder of success Wherever we are un college defense plant or the armed forces of our country we can always look back to dear old West Hazleton Hugh School the place where we started the traunung for our success We know that West Hazleton can also rely on each and every one of us to be future reluable cutuzens of the United States of America ROBERT BOETTGER I ' I I I ' ' I , . . ll- . , . ll , . 2 . . - - - ll H - ' I I I I 1 ' , . CLASS PROPHECY The Greeks had the Oracle of Delphu to gnve them Informatuon about the future and I have often wondered why there IS no trace left of that famous oracle It occurred to me that perhaps no one had ever bothered to look for It so began my search I had hardly started tall I saw a great deal of steam and vapor ruslng Into the avr I hurried to the spot but found that It was only Mr McGeehan s chemustry class doung an expenment I then remembered that the oracle had been found on a mountarn so I went forth and clnmbed the good old Sugarloaf Sure enough I found a rock wnth a vapor gushnng forth The long lost oracle' There was also a beautnful woman on the moun taun a descendant of Cassandra the prophetess Between the vuslons of the rock and the words of Cassandra I learned the followung prophecues concern Ing the Class of 44 The flrst vusuon was the deducatnon of the west wang ofa beautuful hosputal The new wlng was a gnft of the wealthy stock broker Ed Zablockl A large celebratvon was ID progress wlth Wally Fendrlck M C The flrst speaker was Attorney Domlnnc Lockwood and has speech concerned Present Day Affaurs In Hogelmanna After has speech a selectuon was played by John Blamey s orchestra consustnng of such persons as Bob Boettger AI Hunger Bob Sauers Tom Wntanek and Donald Natt Dr Mary Ann Fay then Introduced Chlef Nurse Dorothy Brlngenberg who In turn Introduced the new class of student nurses In the mnddle of a song by Mme Geraldane Nork Interne Ed Bercofskl and Ambulance Drnver John Dullna brought In a patlent Daredevul Bull Hess had had an accldent at the Bloomsburg Faur when the motor of hns racer faaled Immedlately Nurses Anna Arendasn Rose Ustynoskr Dons Pfromm Betty Lou Parsons and Gladys Drasher rushed forth to ease has sufferung After thus a semblance of peace settled over the crowd and I began to look around at the guests To mentuon a few they were Al Kulblnsky and Joe Czutno famous professional football stars Miss Alma Hebel chuld psychol ogust and Mlss Dorothy Endruzzl popular desugner and head of the House of Heavenly Hats most dlstlngulshed shop In New York Some other members of the Class of 44 were also guests but I learned nothnng of them They were Allce Bellas Nuck Pashnuck Audrey Davus Anna Rntz June Schell Bull Domm Loulse Stashlnsky and Albert Chenkus The vlsuon faded and Cassandra began to speak She told me of the happy marruage of Wslluam Hape to June Hull She contlnued to tell me of a famous women s college of whuch Regnna Garbarcuk as dean The staff of teachers consnsts of Mary Stank Vu Ranjo Helene Browne Betty Roberts Mary Swan tek June Skorupskl and Eleanor Mackrn The next vrsson was of a great luxury Inner on the way to Rlo de .Ianeuro It was the second nnght out and Frank Noaska had arranged an entertaunment to acquaunt the passengers 1 , I .
