The gym was decorated for the event, and the boys played a good game even though they did lose. King Dennis Breuer missed the football game because of illness, as a result, Queen Kay Blackbourn was crowned at the Homecoming Dance. Homecoming 1962 was truly a wonderful event and a night to be remembered by all. The football season came to an end and everyone at West Grant thought it had been successful because of the one victory they had gained. Skelgas By Spangler Patch Grove, Wisconsin - 51 - Hhccrleaders The cheerleaders had a lot to yell about this year, and yell they did! The students and fans offered much support and good volume. The Varsity and Junior Varsity cheerleaders worked hard to keep up the school spirit. They also presented many very good pep rallies in preparation for each game! Finn, R. White, D. Wall. Crack and Gam The year of 1963 saw a relay team emerge from West Grant. The team, comprised of Mike Noethe, Jim Meng, Larry Finn, and Roger White placed first many times during the season, including a first at the Peacock Relays in LaCrosse and a first at the sectional meet at Darlington enabling them to go to the State Meet. Rog White was one of the most outstanding members of the team, excelling in shot put, broad jump, and many running events. Larry Finn placed 4th in the low hurdles at the conference meet. He is one of the up and coming hurdlers in the SWAL conference, and we are expecting big things from him in the 1964 track season. Two freshman members of the team, George Lane and Bud Bunders, were outstanding this year. The senior members of the team, Mike Noethe, Jim Meng, and Greg Beneker, will be missed next year.
