The band received first place honors in the field compe- tition, second place in parade, and third place in concert. Mr. Cost has devoted many valuable hours to the growth and maturity of our class. He has advised many extra-curricular activities including: Sophomore Class, Junior Class, Yearbook, Student Council and Lacrosse Coach. When we discovered ourselves facing the dilemma of finding a Senior Class Advisor, Mrs. Marcoux came to the rescue and volunteered to undertake the arduous task. The numerous activities which she has advised have proved very beneficial to the Class of 1981. Both Mr. Cost and Mrs. Marcoux have set a high personal standard for the class of 1981, and we can never thank them enough for all they have done. . . Outstanding performances were recorded by Mark Tindall in the high jump, Heidi Hew- itt in the long jump, Mark Powell in the 600 meter run, Mike Henesey in the 1600 meter run, Dave Reed in the lntersectional relay, the 4X4OO meter relay of Bob Cary, Bob Gliemli, John Ramsey, and Mark Powell, and the 4X80O meter relay of Bob Cary, Mike Henessey, John Ramsey and Dave Reed. SHIRLEY PALMER Wildcats Band Parent M, 1 J .t 1 -rpm -f -4 - A TRIBUTE To: Mr. Bruce Burritt The members of the West Genesee Wildcat March- ing Band would like to thank Mr. Burritt for all his contributions to the music department. Since his arrival in 1965, Mr. Burritt has given his service, lead- ership, musical talents and time to help build the WG. Music Department to what it is today. He has been instrumental in developing the Wildcat March- ing Band, which has risen to capture seven N.Y. State Championship titles and two Festival of States National Championship titles, in 1976 and 1980. Under his conducting, the W. G. Wind Ensemble attended the Chicago Midwest Band Clinic in 1977 and received third place in the Festival of States National Concert Band Competition, in 1980. Mr, Burritt also gives of himself to each and every mem- ber in the band. He teaches self-discipline, determi- nation, and instills in each person a sense of pride extending from the individual, to the whole organiza- tion. Organized by a staff commit- tee headed by Mrs. Tippett, the assembly involved set and props made by Mr. Taylor's and Mrs. Arm- strong's art students, and accompaniment by the school chorus. Members from all departments participated in comical depictions of each of the twelve days.
