Our class officers were elected in eighth grade. They were: Daniel Bowser, President, Jacqueline Pfaff, Vice President, Mary Shank, Sec- retary, and Roy Bowser, Treasurer. We chose as our class colors peacock blue and b1ack,our flower, pink carnation, and our motto, Take short views, hope for the best, and trust in God. On March 4. 1955, we sponsored the Freshman Frolic with music furnished by Dick Kutan. After a short vacation we resumed school in September, 1955. Our Sophomore year was a busy year. We elected Mary Shank, President, Jacqueline Pfaff, Vice Pres- identg Darla Moorhead, Secretaryg Daniel Bowser, Treasurer. On November 5, we enjoyed a record hop with Mr. Soloski and Mr. McCleary, our sponsors, as disc jockeys. Nominations for the Harvest Court to represent the sopho- mores were Jean Shearer, Mary Shank and Beverly Minteer. Beverly Minteer was chosen. To add more to the treasury a bake sale was held January 21. The main event of the year, however, was the Sophomore Hop, which was held on April 6, 1956. We entered our Junior year very enthusiastically with thirty-three members. Four did not return this year. Chosen as officers were William Lorenzetti, President, Roy Bowser, Vice President, Barbara Good, Secretaryg William Bono, Treasurer. Mr. Good and Mr. Kiel were our sponsors and helped us organize and present our activities. Our Junior play, The Able Miss Cain, was directed by Mrs. McBride. It was presented on April 5, 1957. We also sponsored a bake sale at Worthington and Kittan- ning. On May 24 we honored the seniors with a banquet held at the firehall and the prom held in the school gym. Music was furnished by the Fritz-Waldron Orchestra. On Aug. 28 we finally started our senior year sponsored by Mrs. LaSitis. The newly elected officers were William Lorenzetti, Presidentg Daniel Bowser, Vice Presi- dent, Shirley Swigart, Secretary, Darla Moorhead, Treasurer. On November 22, 1957 we gave our senior play, Mother Is A Freshman, under the direction of Mrs McBride. We are all looking forward to Baccalaureate and Com- mencement, and with this in mind, we seniors, want to thank all of the parents and teachers for everything they have done for us in the past four years of high school. 22 Barbara Lou Good aeaamwl Sue Addleman, Sophomore Attendantg Nancy Davenport, Freshman Attendantg Joyce Michels, Junior Attendantg Barbara Good, Harvest Queen. mpfxx- AWP- f'f..v .ruff wvzf fi eaubfz ROW ONE: Mrs. LaSitis, Ruth Smith, Darla Moorhead, Beverly Minteer, Jacqueline Pfaff, Brenda Bowser, Sally Morrison, Geraldine Dougherty, Shirley Swigart, Mary Shank. Ihad an assignment to photograph the annual Spring Ball at the Waldorf given by the wealthy Rockefellers. I went down town and purchased an evening gown in one of New York's classiest shops. The owner was Mary McCoy, the former Mary Shank. I talked with her a while and she told me that Sandra Smith Bowser was her private secretary. After 1 left the shop, I went to the Smith-Swigart beauty salon, which was owned and operated by Judy Smith and Shirley Swi- gart. While Iiwas there, I picked up the morning newspaper and spread all over the front page were pictures of three of my former classmates, Melvin McCue, Roy Bowser, and Bill Renwick. It seems that they had just landed on the planet Mars. Melvin was the pilot and Bill the Co-pilot. Roy was in charge of radar. After leaving the beauty salon I started for my office on the East side. While stopped at a stop light a tractor -trailer, operated by Dan Bowser, ran into me. I wasn't hurt but I was a little shaken from the accident. Policeman, Bill Bono, drove me to Mercy hospital where I was given something to calm my nerves. After talking to the head nurse, Barbara Good, she told me that Bev Minteer Crawford was a nurse in the same hos- pital. Jackie Pfaff also was a brain surgeon in this hospital. As I was about to leave 1 noticed a young woman working with some small children in a room adjoining the lobby. I recognized her as Jean Shearer, a former classmate at W,l-LS. Jean was a speech therapist. I talked to her for awhile and she told me that Darla Moorhead Mechling lived in Pittsburgh and was the mother of three darling children. She also told me that Esther Toy was the Dean of Women at Penn State University. As I left the hospital I passed a church from where beautiful strains of music were coming. I looked in and there at the organ sat Ruth Smith. I didn't want her to quit playing so I left the church without being seen. I finally made it to my office about three o'c1ock. My boss, John Hoyt, editor-in-chief of Look Magazine, was very 64 understanding about the whole matter. After finishing my work, I went out to dinner with Beverly Flick, one of the office secretaries. We ate at a place owned by June English, one of our former class- mates. We talked to June for awhile about our school days and she told us that she had twin girls. After saying good -by to June, Bev and I went to our seperate homes. I went home and started to get ready for the ball. The taxi arrived at8:30 and after I seated myself I dis- covered the driver was Robert Flanigan. Bob didn't realize who I was but after testing his memory he recalled my name. We chatted about our school days and before I knew it, we were at the Waldorf. After checking my coat, the hostess approached and I discovered it was the famous dramatist, Jolly Smith. I talked to her for a few minutes and she told me that Gerry Daugherty was teaching music at Westminster College. Since Jolly had other duties she left me to attend to other guests. The orchestra was playing a waltz and I decided to get a picture of it. As the leader turned to face my camera I saw to my great surprise that the leader was Carol Bargerstock. I talked to Carol for awhile and she told me that Dale Ruth, the screaming idol of millions of teenagers, was also on the program. After leaving Carol l noticed this tall distinguished looking fellow talking to several young women. There was no mistaking who it was. l knew it was William Lorenzetti, the bachelor politician who just had been elected to Con- gress. I talked to William and he told me that Bill Blose was teach- ing science at W,W.F. Having taken all the pictures I wanted I went home. As I unlatched the door I found a letter from one of my school friends, Sally Morrison Claypoole. She told me that the twins were fine, and that her family had just moved into their new home. Pick- ing up the sports section of the evening paper I saw that jim Smith, the famous wrestler had just won the wor1d's championship. PROPHET, Brenda Bowser. . . 65 'BW hs..
