dr. Richard Serge, Sr, SN OVERALL VIEW: The Campus of West For- syth High School was home to 1,719 students, 407 of whom were Seniors. Mr. Richard Serge, Sr. captured ,his panoramic view from his ultra-light air craft. PHE FINAL STEPS: Graduating Seniors slowly nove down the sidewalks of West on their way to the graduation ceremonies. This last walk was one the Seniors had anticipated for four years. Q viichacl Steele 5UMMER'S HERE, PM CHILLIN: Each year ,housands of high school students flock to the beach 'or sun, fun, and whatever their crazy minds can ,hink of. The ffl choice for Piedmont students is that 'sandbox in the south , Myrtle Beach. Although, the Jeach seems overcrowded each year, the crowd of '87 Jromised to be the largest ever. After he Pomp nd Circumstance . . . By Mark Cartner or years, following graduation, West Forsyth Seniors have made a sort of pilgrimage to a relatively small town on the coast of South Carolina. They go for the sole purpose of escaping reality, for they realize that when they re- turn their lives will be dramatically changed. But before they let themselves be swept away by the real world, they plunge themselves into one final week of high school hysteria. The name of this modern-day promised land is Myrtle Beach and it's the most predominately predetermined destination for post-gradu- ation ceremonies in this area of the country. Of course, as to be expected, the gradis of '87 kept this worthwhile tradition alive and well. Stated Susan Everhart prior to gradua- tion, My plan for after high school is to go to the beach and party. Her senti- ments were seemingly universally shared as the Grand Strand was transformed into one big dance for the South's class of '87. However, amid all this pleasure in para- dise there were a few less adventurous souls who chose not to visit our sister state. For a select few, the completion of high school signaled a drastically new way of life, marriage. But for most, after the dream-land days spent at the beach, it was either off to work or college.
