The first year leaders were President, Tony Guldg Vice-President, iisty Beaucharnpg and Secretary,fTreasurer, Leigh Ann Raines. E ! Head Of by Mark Cartner After an intense campaign the sophomore class officers were elected. Tony Guld led the way capturing the presi- dency. Tony stated that he, wished to represent the soph- omore class and make it a bet- ter year for everyone. This was Tony's first year as a class officer. Backing up Guld for the sophomore class was Misty Beauchamp. After winning the vice-presidency, Misty re- sponded with why she ran. I thought this would be a good way to meet and work with new people. Filling the third role of stu- dent leadership was secretary- ftreasurer Leigh Ann Raines. Leigh Ann's job as an officer was slightly different than the -other two officers. Her job was to record the minutes of each meeting and to handle all of the financial records, Leigh Ann, like Tony and Misty, was also a first year officer. Horsing by Amy Howell Learning to ride and train horses takes plenty of hard work. Cathy Osborne should knowg she has been riding for seven years. People do not know how much hard work go into training both must horse and rider, says Cathy. Cathy's first horse, Fantasy, was a bay mare. Cathy said Fantasy helped her broaden her riding abilities and gave her more experience. Cathy now owns a Hanoverian Warm Blood which was imported from Germany. Cathy competes in horse shows in Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Over sixty-five trophies and ribbons decorate her room. Cathy takes lessons from Jan Cadwallader at Cedar Hollow Farms who trains both horse and rider for Grand Prix level competition, I hope to enter Griffin in competition and breed her in the spring, said Cathy who is considering this as a possible career or side business. A NEW BEGINNING: Cathy Os- borne won over' sixty-five trophies and ribbons with her first horse, Fantasy. Here Cathy stands with her new horse, Griffen, with whom she hopes to win more prizes.
