TATTOO YOU: Junior Sabrina Nasisi gets into the spirit Micfioel Cotamino shows pride tor his TRUE LOYALTY: Senior school. Something very strange happened this year. School proved to be better than usual, even in West Essex terms. The boring, 6-hour day was gladly interrupted by some very un- usual happenings. Surprisingly, enthusiasm can be sparked by the students in Ihe halls and on the fields. We dressed up, made posters, and partici- pated In many such school activities as paint- ing ourselves red and white for the sake of school spirit. If nothing else, students were able to laugh at each other during classes. What students really needed during their school year was some enthusiasm to talk about. The apathy at West Essex appears to be diminishing slowly but surely. Students don't look as grim as they once did; a handful of the sports teams are improving, possibly because of the increase of attendance at the games. And if all that isn't enough proof, take a look at these pictures. STUDENT LIFE 23

Shaping Up FIT-IN-TRIM: Seniors Diane Rossinow and Phil Bomhoff strut their stuff in the library. The desire to look good. Everybody wants to look decent enough to a) impress and b) attract. It's that simple. Feeling good is not an honest goal. One cannot possibly sense any joy after lifting 250-lbs. or aerobicizing for 45 minutes. Sweat and pain do not stir any images of fun, nor does the thought of sore muscles the day after. Yet, many people continue to exercise and look good, all for the sake of others. It's inspiring and encouraging that so many are attending the gym, but... if you can't impress your friends and attract a member of the opposite sex, you must be doing something wrong.
