Text from Pages 1 - 256 of the 1978 volume:

1 It is tradition for the MILESTONE to be dedicated each year to an individual whose service and devotion to West Essex High School deserves to be acknowledged and to be honored. This annual recognition permits the students of West Essex to express their appreciation to our outstanding faculty and administration. This year the time is appropriate to express our gratitude to an educator who has given a part of himself to all who have had contact with him in and out of the classroom. His students are richer for the knowledge, guidance, and inspiration which he has offered them. His anecdotes and personal adventures have given his students many enjoyable and memorable moments. His drive for excellence, his courage, and his tenacity have excited and encouraged them. As an advisor of past clubs, students have come to see the warmth of a friend. This man of compassion, understanding, and learning has earned the esteem of his peers and the admiration of his students. It is with pleasure and sincerity that this book is dedicated to a man who has fostered the tradition of excellence in West Essex High School. We congratulate our teacher and benefactor — Mr. William Castelluccio. 3 5 WtintfS smootk jowrwy, Met, at tims fccmbu) confused-, Our smstr of direction veim tost. 8 9 10 11 H 12 14 16 20 Class of ’78 Class Advisor: Mr. Robert Caruso Class Officers: President - Dennis Krzeminski. Class of ’78 Wessex Wire Karen Garland Chris Ciandrini 245 Mitis i mr June 1978 The Milestone has once again chronicled the events of another year together. Our annual record has successfully survived the trials that accompany any publication. As in any work of this size, many individuals devoted hours of time and service. At this time we would like to express our gratitude to those who helped create this Milestone. To the faculty and administration, thank you for all of the toes you allowed us to step on during the course of the year. To Ed Leonard, thank you for all the rolls of creative film you sent our way. To Morey Bobrow, thank you for responding to a 7:00 a.m. call for the calligraphy which helped to make the book. To Jim Petrucci. thank you for all of the suggestions, one-liners, and efforts that moved publishing mountains. To Stan Scher. thank you for just being yourself. You smoothed out our dilemmas, provided us with the best chauffeur service around, and aided the publication of this edition of the Milestone with the charm and knowledge only you possess. Your encouragement and confidence were our sustenance and guiding light. Indeed we will always be grateful to you. To you our reader and supporter, thank you for making the success of the 1978 Milestone possible. We hope this edition will remain as special to you as it will to us. Sincerely yours.
