Together they have given our school sports renown, and one of the best lighted fields in the state, to say nothing of Striclcland's victory record. They have given glo- riously of their time and effort. Dr. Yarbrough, Coach Strickland, accept now the thanks of those who have played and are yet to play under the West High uniforms. A slight prctyer for revenge in the future. Clarksville invited us up, fed us poke chops and then proceeded to beat us 28-O in a swimming meet. Perhaps our best performance of the year was against the powerful Ryan T formation. Alternating between a seven and an eight man line, West held a l3-O advantage until the last half. We'll all remember the sus- pense of those extra points. Ryan sparked in the last half to gain a l3-l3 tie. With Richard Smith taking over as captain we dealt our traditional cross town rivals a severe defeat. With touchdowns by Mason, Adcock, Cortner, we climaxed a spirited sea- son. Article IV. We, the seniors, leave-our hearts full of regret-with thanks to Dr. Yar- brough, the faculty and the student body! Witnessed by: Donna Ralls Patsy Iones Evelyn Coker Olga Finney Prophecy of C1444 of 1946 Leave us face it, members of the senior class of 19463 time is time and Time Marches On, so let us sashay into the future and see what the year 1956 has in store for the most outstanding senior class of 1946. It is New Year's Eve, and as we approach the en- trance of Peeping Tom Smith's Hawk Club for a gala evening, our cab door is opened by none other than JACK DORMAN, the doorman, who pushes us inside where those two cute hatcheck girls, BETTY COKER and JOYCE THOMAS, relieve us of our hats and coats. JAMES BELLIOUS, the headwaiter, courteously shoves us to our table. Scarcely have we given our order to the waiter, who we discover to be Flaming Red WAL- TER MILES: when the lights grow dim and we see none other than the M. C. himself, A. RICHARD SMI'TH, who introduces that famous band leader, HENRY OVER- STREET Water Boy BOOTH, Jr. HENRY, accompanied by his charming, hysterical bride, MILDRED Oueenie BETI-IS'HARES, really sends us with his saxophone ren- dition of The White Cliffs of Dover. Suddenly we hear the wild screams of the D. M. F. C. CDARREL MCCORMICK Fan Clubl, and Frankie him- self steps to the mike. On recovering from our swoons we look up to see a row of shapely appendages. It is the chorus line, led by the queen, OLGA FINNEY, who is followed closely by those beauties, ALICE ALLEN, BETTY JO ATCHLEY, MARY JANE BUTTERFIELD, WAYNE HAMMOND, JEAN HAMILTON and JODY FULLERTON. At a ringside table, gazing goggle-eyed at the bevy of beauties, we find DAVID Eager BEAVER, panting Passionate RICHARD MOORES and such suave Casanovas as BILLY JOE ADCOCK, WILLIE RITTER, DONALD WRIGHT, and JIMMY SI-IAUB. The climax of this charming exhibition is a bubble dance by Butter- fly WHITSITT and DORIS MONTGOMERY. No sooner have they reached the center of the stage however, than they dash screaming to the wings, having spied AL- BERT REGEN loping across the floor grasping a hat pin. After pushing our eyes back in their sockets we let our gaze wander to the dance floor, and there we see the grocery store magnet, HAROLD LOVELL, leading the conga line with his wife, SARA GILL. Also prominent in the line of dancers is that world-renowned dancing instructor, RUSSELL Twinkle-toes HUGHES, who has as his partner the ravishing beauty, SHIRLEY BROWNE. At a table which commands a view of the whole floor, we spy GEORGE BATES and OVERTON LEA who are owner and society editor, respectively, of that widely-read New York paper, The Daily Weekly. Mr. Bates and Mr. Lea are being joined by the well-known bachelor trio, MYERS, HIERS, and BRUECK. Frank and Bill are still managing to keep one jump ahead of the female horde, but it is rumored that Dr. Brueck fauthor of the best seller, Four Years Behind the Scalpel J has fallen for a blonde nurse. Wishing to find out the latest dope on high society, we join this distinguished group. Overton has the follow- ing information to disclose: TOMMY DONNER and LUTTRELL THOMAS will meet in Madison Square Garden to decide the heavyweigh. championship of the world. Luttrell is given a slight edge over Tommy because he has been under the strict training of JAMES BALLENTINE and EUGENE BARTO who have just concluded their vigorous campaign to prohibit the manufacture of cigarettes in the U. S. SALLY CARNAHAN, eminent painter, has just fin- ished her masterpiece The Last Rose of Summer. Her model for the picture Was SHIELA BARSKIN. Since Ziegfeld died the owner and manager of the show are JOHNNY MASON and GERALD ROGERS and you can guess who are the stars of the Follies of '56-- MARJORIE MAUPIN and D. A. WRIGHT, naturally. The show also features such beauties as: JEAN CARROL O'DONNELL, JEAN ROSSELL, BETTY ANN OGILVIE, JEAN BARNES, LOIS ASHFORD, and ANN CRAIG. JANE LEPLY has recently taken over the editorship of the fashion magazine. Her staff consists of such liter- ary geniuses as ANN GILES, JENNY GRAHAM, BELL OWEN, CAROLYN RICHARDSON, IACKY WOLBERG. LILA WALKER, EVA JEAN BIFFLE, BETTY BUCHANAN, ANN HODGE, and ANN SHAW. The artist for this fashionable magazine is JAMES DANIELS and he has as models those curvacious cuties, DONNA LEE RALLS, PATSY JONES, and LIBBY GRAF. FRANK DILLARD, PAUL DINKINS, and ALBERT JAR- RAT have risen to first place on the list of Grand Old Opry favorites. Overton tells us that the forthcoming Olympic meet will find BILL BLACKFORD, HARRY FRITH, JIMMY RAGAN, and CLARENCE REYNOLDS competing for the title World's Champion Pool Shark. ROY PRIMM and JIMMY FOX are currently engaged in a heated legal battle to determine which one shall rightfully be called Meatball. Attorneys for Roy are MORTON SAGER, BOBBY SHARP, JOHN SISK and GIL- MAN Sl-IUMAKER. immy is represented by the firm of BORING, BUMPAS, CARNEY and CO1-IEN. Playboy BOBBY 'Woman Killer CORTNER, having worked his way through his first wife's fortune, is now casting about for someone to support him for the next ten years. MARJORIE BIRCI-IER, brilliant psychiatrist, is trying to ease ELSYE WEIL's mental strain caused by her inde- cision as to which college she should attend. Also in Mariorie's appointment book are to be found MARY FRANCES TYSON and VIRGINIA VINSON who are half-crazy over the prospect of being old maids. Mar- jorie is ably assisted by her capable nurses, MARY LOU ARNOLD, JANE SCHWARTZ, CAROLYN TIPTON, JERRY DAVIS, and JEWELL BROWN. BETTY BROWN, CARL MILLS and BOBBY BALDRIDGE are currently starring in the Metropolitan Opera, We hear their interpretation of Carmen is really hot. After thanking Overton for his gab about the old gang we return to our table. The clock is just striking twelve and fond memories of the lunch periods in the good old days at West are brought to our minds as we are en- gulfed in the mad surge of celebration. Cutting Cqperg with the crowd we see such demure individuals as JEAN DORIS GOLDMAN, who is standing on BETTY BRODNAX's shoulders, singing Auld Lang Syne a, the top of her lungs. The excitement of the evening is over now, so we bid a fond farewell to the Hawk Club and its owner and wander out into the cold, bleak streets. On the corner a few blocks down is a newspaper stand, and a lonely bedraggled figure is huddled there in the cold. As we draw closer we realize that it is a woman, who looks faintly familiar. Peering into her face we recognize PEGGY DUPRE, who was editor of the West Wind in her more prosperous days. Peggy tells us that her husband, EDGAR WILKERSON, left her with six children to support, so we flip her a dime fa new one too, with F. D. R. on the frontll and meander down the street to a sign which says Maxson's Mar- velous Midnight Munchies. We stumble in, brace our- selves with a cup of coffee and flip open the paper to glance at the latest news. At the top of the front page, in two inch letters fheadlines in other wordsl we find the startling proclamation HLINEBAUGH' MUST BE STOPPEDV' Upon further examination it is discovered that GEORGE LINEBAUGH, public enemy No. l, has committed another atrocity. It seems that stool pigeon JIM LEVOY falias The Lip j was being held in, the county jail, and squealed on his own gang, whereupon KENNETH GROOMS, BILLY Stzingbean McPole HEN- DERSON, and BOBBY JONES were sent to rub him out. District Attorney JOHN L. MYERS said that the police have surrounded the hideout of this desperate gang of criminals and all women and children are warned to stay indoors. Having exhausted the supply of news about this hideous turn of events, we focus our gaze upon the articles in smaller print-one discloses that BARBARA FERRELL and BARBARA JEWELL are running against each other for election to the Senate. The sports page plays up the big prize fight of the year. Contender for the title is, of course, HERBY HONICK, whom we all knew When. Also in the realm of sports is mentioned ANN MILTON who is the tennis champ in the United States. Ann de- feated ANNA MAI JONES in the finals and we expect that she will go on to even greater heights in this field. In the classified section fdon't you just love the ads?l there is a three-column spread which says, Ladies, Face a Better Future With a Better Face! Come to LIGHTMAN :St LIGHTMAN Beauty Shoppe. This place seems to have possibilities, for on the staff of beauty counselors are found such professionals as JOAN SMITH, CAROLYN STRINGE, DOROTHY GRIGSBY, and MARY ELLEN ROBERTSON. The manicurist is ELLA JORDAN, pedicurist BETTY ANN KENNEDY. ON the back page of the paper is a big ad for the new circus that's wowing the country. Its owners are FRANK LEAVELL, JACK HOBBS, and BILLY JOE NEAL. The success of the circus rests on the shoulders of its many and brilliant entertainers such as NAOMI VANCE and NELL CARNEY, the midgets, SHIRLEY WATSON, the tight-rope walker, CAROLYN MCGUIRE and IVY JEAN MULLER, bareback riders, MARY LOUISE WER- NER and BETTY ANN MCCONNELL, lion tamers, and of course the clowns, EWING FRAZIER, JAMES BELLA- MY and AHRON LUCAS. The poor newspaper is almost in shreds, by now, so we look down the counter to see if anyone of interest has come into the greasy little lunch room. Guess who is sitting there with her suitcase in one hand and bags under her eyes, none other than JEANETTE FUOUAI As you probably know, she has been following Char- ley around from port to port for lol these many years. Knowing that Jeanette has been to all parts of the world, we settle down for a nice long conversation about the members of the old gang that she encountered on her extensive travels. Jeanette tells us that on passing through Reno she saw ELEANOR MILLER on one of her annual visits to this fair city of separation. Last seen, Lizzy was trying to avoid the mad throng of male admirers. At an obscure African port she ran into EVEL.YN COKER and HENRY READ, who went there to educate the Pygmies, having run out of other crazy things to do. They seem to be very happy, and only a little homesick. NANCY CORNELIUS, owner of a Phi Beta Kappa key, is conducting a lecture tour in Europe. Heaven only knows what she's lecturing about. Well, dear friends, the dawn is breaking now, and we must hurry home to make our New Year's Resolu- tions. Before we depart, however, we want to wish for you a bright and happy future, not at all like what we have predicted here.
