For four years past, our stage has been West End High School. Act I of our drama began when we en- tered here as Freshmen. In it we made our groping steps toward higher learning. Act II took us through the Sophomore year, a time when we gained self con- fidence and a sense of belonging. Junior year, Act III, was a period of hope, of looking forward to the thrill of being Seniors. Now we have reached Act IV, our Senior year, that time which four short years ago seemed so distant. We may look back wistfully, but we also look forward bravely, knowing that the Drama In Four Acts is but the prelude to that longer drama in which we each shall play a part. It is with these thoughts, and with the hope that we and you will play well our parts in the Drama of Life, that the class of 1966 presents the RESUME, A DRAMA IN FOUR ACTS, to the students of West End High School. f v 1. iii! ,W ?g,J,cL.1 if ,f 'Ff'if'Z2iV.' r no QV!! .N H. Goldie was tapped into the ltmior Honor Society in her fourth semester, and after establishing her scho- lastic ability she served as President of the Student Body, a member of the council, Sportsmanship,Chair- man of the Cabinet, Student teacher in three subjects, and session room president for five semesters. She won four gold key art awards and was elected president, vice president, and treasurer of the art club. She was chosen vice president and secretary of the Red Cross at West End and was also vice president of the South- eastern Area Red Cross, which included attending an officers training center in Covington, Georgia. She participated in stunt night and fashion shows and was a campaign manager. While establishing her record of achievements Goldie remained a favorite of her fellow students, who elected her Freshman Favorite and selected her to be a member of time Homecoming Court. Goldie was voted Most Ambitious in The Senior Who's Whoii. She has already taken great strides toward fulfilling her ambition, winning honors in every area she has entered. West End wishes Goldie the greatest success in all her future endeavors. Cheryl Thacker CECIL ADAMS The award of Outstanding Senior is earned by hard Work and devotion. Cecil has been an outstanding mem- ber of our school community since his freshman year when he was named Outstanding Freshman Boy and also an active member of the Latin Club that year. Cecil has been very active in the speech department. He has appeared in many plays, and also been on sev- eral assemblies. Due to his talent in this field, he be- came a member of the Masque and Gavel, becoming chaplain in this society. Other of his activities include: Hi-Y, marshall cap- tain, speech letter, Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, oratorical contests, and. a member of the Civitan Freedom Forum Tour. Another outstanding honor was the presentation of the Harvard Book Award to Cecil last year. All these facts certainly makes it clear why Cecil was named Outstanding Senior. We wish Cecil much suc- cess. We feel we have achieved much in the past few years. Each semester a project is planned, in some way, to tell the student body that art is vital to our school program and also that it can be interesting and exciting. Last Spring we had a Side-walk art show and lsold our work. We painted a six-foot oil painting of Abba-Dabba on plywood and presented it to the student body, to be used at games as a gesture toward good sportsmanship. The Art Club always decorates the halls and lunchroom during holidays and has completed many more projects. We were proud of our efforts when we won first place in the Homecoming car decoration con- test. Many of us attended the state convention in Tuscaloosa and feel we are very fortunate to have one of our own members become state President ,of Art Clubs of Alabama. Nita McBride will serve as President in 1966-67 and We know she will rep- resent us Well.
