Since her freshman year, Joyce has held offices in session room, Dramatics Club, Y-Teens, and Masque and Gavel, the speech honor society. She has also been active in Tri-Hi-Y, Cabinet, Council, and Choir, Through her work in the speech department, Joyce has been in oratorical contests and has iudged poetry contests. She has been in the casts of A Man Called Peter, Father Knows Best, and The Singing Ghost. Joyce has participated in stunt night and campaign skits, has received four speech letters, Speech Wings, and one vocal letter. Inducted into the Junior Honor Society in her fourth semester, Joyce served as president of it. She was tapped for the National Honor Society in her seventh semester. Having been a cheerleader for two years and having earned two letters, Joyce was elected by the student body as an alternate to the football queen. Joyce served her Alma Mater as Secretary of the Student Body in her seventh semester, and took on an even greater responsibility as President of the Student Body, Joyce, we know of your plans to go to Howard and to Baylor and become a director of religious education, and we wish you a wonderful and happy future, and hope these last four years will truly be MOMENTS TO REMEMBER. RICHARD EDWARD BARROW Richard Edward Barrow, who is better known as Dick, well deserves the honor of being the outstanding senior boy from the January class. He stands out in all four phases upon which a student is judged-Leadership, Scholarship, Character, and Service. ln leadership he has many points. Richard has held session room offices, has been.president and vice president of the Latin Club, and has served the Hi-Y as its president. His real ability for leadership shines in the fact that he has been editor of the Welion. Being exceptionally interested in math and science, Dick has shown his ability there, too. He has an excellent record of scholarship and has always maintained average and above average grades, Dick's leadership, scholarship, and service stand out but he is best recalled in these MOMENTS TO REMEMBER by his outstanding character. Because of this his fellow classmates have elected him Personality Plus. Congratulations, Dick, and may you continue to be as dear to the student body of West End as you are now. MA Y OUTSTANDING SENIORS GUY THOMAS HALBROOKS A more deserving person could not be chosen than Guy Thomas Halbrooks as outstanding senior. Known as Tommy to all his friends he has shown his versatility by playing in the band and orchestra, and receiving a letter in each. He has also been a member of the choir. Elected to the Junior Honor Society in the third semester, Tommy served the organization as its treasurer. Not only has he held session room offices but he has also served on the Cabinet and Council. Tommy received the Harvard Book Award, presented to him as the outstanding boy in the Junior class. He was also a delegate to Alabama Boys' State. Being outstanding in many clubs, such as the Hi-Y Ushers, Tommy has served the West Endventor Science Club as its president, vice president, and treasurer. The May senior class chose him as Most Studiousf' Tommy was honored by being elected boys' vice president of the student body in his seventh semester. The National Honor Society, into which he was inducted in the sixth semester, elected Tommy to serve as president in his eighth semester. Tommy, these years will always be MOMENTS TO REMEMBER, but whatever your plans for the future may be, with your religious faith, ability and stamina your life will surely be successful. MARGARET FRANCES MOFFETT A better description could not be found for Margaret Frances Moffett than Outstanding Senior. She has proven herself in many ways. During her four years at West End she served the French Club as president, the Y-Teens as president and chaplain, and the Masque and Gavel, a speech honor society, as president, secre. tary, and treasurer. Micki, as she is known, served on the Cabinet and Council. Another honor she received was being chosen as Good Citizen Girl and to go on the Citizenship Tour. Micki was elected into the Junior Honor Society in her third semester and into the National Honor Society in her sixth semester. She has all A averages. Micki was outstanding in speech work as she proved by earning three speech letters and being student director for school plays as well as for the quarter hour plays for city schools. Micki also appeared in many plays. Micki, these four years at West End will live on and remain MOMENTS TO REMEMBER in the history of the school as well as in your life. Good luck always. The usual activities ot' tending the PTA. Nursery, dressing dolls, working at the Goodfellows' Store, and adopting a teen-age girl at Christmas and Easter were some of the services rendered by the club. Ot special interest to the girls was their Thanksgiving party forthe children at St. Tlioinas on the Hill. The highlight ot the year, however, was Friendship Week in February, This school-wide activity was originated by the Tri-Beta Y-Teens three years ago, and the girls hope to make it an annual event. The climax of the week was the Valentine Day Dance for the stcdent body, the proceeds from which were donated to the school fund by the Tri-Beta Y-Teens.
