.givin 1949-50 We began our freshman year with sixty-three students, having gained six new pupils: Carolyn Anderson, Frank Bunn, Velma Etheridge, Peggy Bailey, Barbara Farmer, and Adeline Moore. However, we lost twelve students: Betty Jean Taylor, Jimmy Cavelo, Ruby Webb, George Vick, Hazel Cullifer, Mary Williams, Phillip Williams, Mavis Crickmore, Adeline Moore, Rubin Moore, John Henry Baxely, and James Drake. Class oflicers for the year were as follows: President, Robert Burgess: Vice-President, Donald Murphy: Secretary and Treasurer, Carolyn Anderson. The following boys were on the baseball team: Robert Burgess, Wilbur Edmondson, Tommy Jenkins, Donald Logan, Bobby Johnson. We had only one girl that made the softball team: Mae Ezzell. We had only one boy that made the basketball team, Robert Burgess. 1950-51 Our sophomore year we had forty-four students with a gain of five new students: Anne Bottoms, Kenneth Bottoms, Charles Lancaster, Bill Lancaster, and Mary Hicks. We lost fourteen students. They were: David Womble, Barbara Ann Dail, Janet Campbell, Henry Jones, Joe Morgan, John Bridges, Bobby Rackley, David Bottoms, and Peggy Davis. Our class oflicers were: President, Myrl Kinkead: Vice-President, Robert Burgess: Treas- urer, Bobby Johnson: Secretary, Vernell Proctor. We had six girls on the softball team: they were: Vernell Proctor, Myrl Kinkead, Jean- nette Worsley, Loretta Joyner, Nellie Pope, and Mae Ezzell. Robert Burgess, Donald Logan, Wilbur Edmondson, Gene Gay, and Bobby Johnson were on the baseball team. This year the baseball team won the Class A Championship. We had four girls on the basketball team. They were: Myrl Kinkead, Jeannette Worsley, Vernell Proctor, and Loretta Joyner. We had three boys on the basketball team. They were: Frank Bunn, John Walter Lancaster, and Robert Burgess. Jeannette Worsley won the F. H. A. award for that year. 1951-52 At the beginning of our Junior year, we had forty-four students. We gained four new students. They Were: Claude Braddy, Willie Ellis, Shirley Casey, and Bernice Perry. We lost twelve students. They were: Sally Willoughby, Peggy Bailey, Helen Daughtridge, Audrey Coker, Ernest Worrell, Bernice Perry, Willie Ellis, Shirley Casey, Kenneth Bottoms, Mary Hicks, Bill Lancaster, and Loretta Lewis. Our class officers were as follows: President, Jeannette Worsley: Vice-President, Wilbiu' Edmondson: Secretary, Christine Worrell: Treasurer, Vernell Proctor. Vernell Proctor, Mae Ezzell, Loretta Joyner, Myrl Kinkead and Jeannette Worsley played on the softball team. Donald Logan, Gene Gay, Wilbur Edmondson, Russel Walters, Tommie Jenkins, Robert Burgess, Bobby Johnson, and Claude Braddy were members of the baseball team. Robert Burgess, Gene Gay, David Gurganus, Bobby Johnson, John Walter Lancaster, Wilbur Edmondson, Frank Bunn, and Jimmy Edwards were members of the boys basket- ball team. We had sixteen members in the Beta Club. Bobby Johnson, Russell Walters, Mae Ezzell, Peggy Land, Millie Price, Robert Burgess, Vernell Proctor, Myrl Kinkead, Jimmy Edwards, Donald Logan, Donald Murphy, Jeannette Worsley, Dorothy Griffin, Frances Brake, Doris Jean Newsome, and Christine Worrell. Jeannette Worsley won the activities award, Wilbur Edmondson the F.F.A. award. Jeannette Worsley and Gene Gay Won a basketball for the most outstanding girl and boy in basketball. . 1952-53 We began our senior year with thirty-eight students. We lost three students, Charles Thomas, Joyce Joyner, and Marie Gardner. Our class omcers were as follows: President, Myrl Kinkead: Vice-President, Wilbiu' Edmondson: Secretary, Doris Jean Newsome: Vernell Proctor was re-elected treasurer. Myrl Kinkead was elected editor of the annual and Jeanette Worsley was elected editor of the We-Hi. The girls on the basketball team were: Jeannette Worsley, tcaptainl Nellie Bottoms, Anne Bottoms, Vernell Proctor, Myrl Kinkead, Mae Ezzell, and Loretta Joyner. The boys on the basketball team were: Robert Burgess, Gene Gay Cco-captainl, John Walter Lancaster, Wilbur Edmondson, Donald Murphy, and Frank Bunn. Cheerleaders were: Peggy Langston, Jessie Dean Rose and Carolyn Anderson. Peggy Langston was elected as head cheerleader. The cast for the senior play were as follows: Anne Bottoms, Elizabeth Jenkins, Jean- nette Worsley, Mae Ezzell, Christine Worrell, Carolyn Anderson, Wilbur Edmondson, Frank Bunn, Charles Lancaster, Joe Jenkins, Jimmy Edwards, and Donald Logan.
