AT THE PRESENT TIME, when distances have be- come insignificant through air travel, and when the universal use of atomic power seems almost a certainty, we need constantly to be reminded that great progress from generation to generation comes only by keeping our feet on the ground. Visions for the future come through a thorough knowledge of the past, so that today study as a way of acquiring knowledge is more essential than ever. True progress for all of us is made when we strive always to learn from the experiences of others those useful facts which we need not ex- perience ourselves. This is education.
