CLIFFORD V. WHITCLUMB, VicefP1incipal But soft, what light from yonder transom hreaks? Oh! It's the VieefPrineipal's office. Mr. Wliiteimxiilw, an importation from Bay View, has proved to he a real Westsider. His office, nestled in an atmosphere of refinement hetween the newspaper and annual oiliees, is one of the busiest places in the school. Witli knocking knees and clicking teeth, the frosh pauses hefore room 102. As he enters the door, he has a feeling of relaxation, for he tells his problems to a kind and friendly person. As the frosh talks to Mr. Whitecmiiih, he realizes that to help, not to hinder, is the VieefPrinCipal's aim. One ean't help feel' ing good when our friend slips in some good oldffashioned humor. Though understanding, misdemeanors do not go unpunishedg yet they are settled fairly and wisely. Yes, here is a man whose reputation for fair play and common sense have made him as much a part of West as the ereaking steps and familiar halls. 7

WILLIAM C. KNGELK, Principal A man's home is his castle, and certainly this castle reflects the character of the man. One look at the controlled, businessflike, efficient outer office of room 209 establishes the character of our first gen' tleman of West Side, Mr. Knoelk. As we see him, he is a tall, stately, well-dressed man with touches of silver in his hair. Hearing his voice over the loudspeaker reflects him as a man of distinction. Throughout the day he is kept busy with questions, petitions, and other trials that a principal must face. Mr. Knoelk is an active man, both in civic and social affairs. He is the organizer of the much needed Drivers Education course, and his name can be seen many times in the papers in connection with this important work. He is a friendly, congenial man. When you see him walking through the corridors, you will most likely be met with a smile and a friendly greeting. 6
