Scheaffer M Shields S Z19l1I1Sk1 Dear Faculty, We sincerely thank you for our present positions: for it was through your patient teaching that we obtained our knowledge of the business world and how to do the jobs related to it. You may not have given us hints to pre- vent our falling off the boss's knee, but junior business training acquainted us with business fundamentals. Later, even if Kil- roy did get into our accounts, We mastered book-keeping. ln office practice, We learned how to operate several compli- cated machines. Our fingers were trained to work harmoniously with our minds in typing class. After taking salesmanship, We thought we could sell refrigerators to Eskimos-or at least dictionaries to people who can read. Perhaps We didn't become super salesmen, but we did sell ourselves to the employment agencies. We want to thank you again for your kind aid and guidance during our four years at West. Very truly yours, Commercial Graduates of '47 'nw 5 I

BEETHOVEN AND EINSTEIN We all know the usual things that hap- pen in the science department, the odors in the laboratory, the tough experiments in physics, the dissection ot the frogs, and the learning ot a little bit of everything in gen- eral science. But, do you know of some ot the more unusual things that occurred? For instance, a group of students gave a demonstration lesson in biology that won city-wide acclaim for our school. Then we go from the sublime to the ridiculous. Did you hear about the unique truth or conse- quences party which made several well known figures around school look rather ridiculous? Speaking ot goings on, a certain mem- ber ot the music department had quite a bit ot trouble this year. It seems that every day he would find truit in his room. CThe orchestra ate well that semester.l My, my, what is this world coming to? Teachers used to rush to the Annual with their pictures, but Mr. Stewart never did show up with his. Bashtul or broke, Mr. Stewart? Remember when the choir sang at school? Sometimes they didn't do well, but at the concert they were magnificent. Could it be temperament or the payinq customers?
