PAGE FROM A COWBOY'S JOURNAL While visiting in the East, I spent a week at West Deer High School. Strangely enough everything I saw there I compared to my ranch home in the West. A11 activ- ities, sports, and even the studies were comparable to something from the wide open spacesf' I suppose the part of the school life which began this comparison in my mincl was the sports. I founcl that the Class of 1952 was notecl for its fine football, basketball, and baseball players. Also along with goocl sportsmanship they learned high riclin' and square shootin'. The Senior Class reminclecl me of the pioneers of the olcl West, for they, like pioneers, will soon be leaving the place they know so well, to travel on to bigger and harcler things. I think their stay at West Deer High School, which I will nickname Bar W.D.H.S. Ranch, has well equipped them for the task. I am keeping the following pictures and Writeups about Bar W.D.H.S. Ranch so that I will never forget my wonderful visit. BURNS As we leave West Deer High School this year, we, the Seniors will take with us countless treasured memories. Among these memories will be those of the friends we have made. When we think of these friends, our minds go toward a person who has been a patient, understanding, and true friend during our whole four years of high school life. Holding before us his high Christian standards he has quietly and unassumingly led us successfully down the road of our high school career. Not only guiding and supervising us as a principal, he has become our personal friend and has affectionately watched over us and aided us in every way possible. Douhtless in years to come as we think of West Deer High School, just so will we think of Mr. Burns who has tirelessly striven for the past eight years to make our high school a more pleasant and wonderful place, Therefore we, the graduating class of 1952, of West Deer High School, to express our deep appreciation to our friend, take humble pride in dedicating this yearhoolc to William E. Burns. ' Lives af great men all 1'e1l1i11d 118, We cfm make our lives .mI2Iime, Am! clujzarlirzg leave bchiml us, Fvotjlrivzlx on the sands of timef' 3 dr
