This question is typical of the hundreds of questions asked each day of the first principal of West Covina High school-Mr. Maurice L. Wooden. The students are always answered in a friendly manner, and usually have a discussion on last weeks game, the new school, or some other Student Body function. Because of his great interest in the students' and school, Mr. Wooden is well liked and appreciated by the entire student body and facultv. Our friendly and personable principal was born and raised on a farm in Indiana. He went to Martinsville High School, and at- tended twelve or fifteen different colleges, receiving his master's degree from the University of Indiana, and his bachelor's de- gree from Franklin College in Fresno. While in high school and college, he lettered in basketball, football, and track. After college, Mr. Wooden spent fifteen years as a coach, then he moved to West Covina where he served as District Super- visor for seven years. He was then selected as the principal for West Covina's first High School. Mr. Wooden has five composite maiors, which are English, Social Science, Health and Physical Education, Education and Psy- chology, and Biological Science. To have such an educational record is most unusual and outstanding. We, the yearbook staff of West Covina High School, respectfully dedicate our first annual to the noblest Spartan of them all,' Mr. Maurice L. Wooden.
