P 5 S S COACHES XX X Mr Klooz football ci Baseball Mr Mortensen Php I' d do Basketball B team Mr Bellows Basketball Our coaching staff was strengthened to the breaking pomt wlth the coming of Jam Mortensen a graduate of Gustavus College He rs a very able coach and well lnked by all the athletes He was assistant coach In football and dad a remarkable 'ob with the B team In basketball Coach Ed Klooz, our football and baseball coach came to our school In I947 to start West Concord on the way to football hlstory He came to us with a previous wln record from Clarkfseld Minnesota and has continued lt In has stay IN West Concord Baseball also took a turn for the better with the comlng ofa steady coach Coach Cliff Bellows returned from the war to continue wlth his coaching career at West Concord where he was employed before the war He IS well known by all and respected by all the student body Hrs basketball teams have been among the best ever to be In West Concord We wlsh to take this opportunity to wlsh the coaches good luck In the future years and hope they wnll be able to carry on as well wlthout us as they dad wlth us THE SENIORS OF l950 Two new trophies were added to the trophy case this year one beautiful whlte oak one wlth a mmlature basketball player mounted on top of It This was won by the basketball team for bemg undefeated In the Dodge County conference league The other ndentlcally made trophy but smaller, with a mlmature football player on ut was won by the football team for belng undefeated un the Dodge County football league The l..lttle Brown Jug was returned to our trophy case when Medford was defeated here In basket ball to the tune of 35 I3 Last year s baseball squad was also a champlonshlp team In Dodge County and received a nlce whlte plastic trophy They also massed being state champions by one game IU the unvntatlonal tournament at Carleton Col lege In Northfneld Having won four games In one afternoon of baseball, only to be defeated by our old rlvals Kenyon 7 3-The Cardmals stall ended up In thlrd place whnch IS very goodconslderlng the competltlon they were playing against.
