Band Band activities began early in the fall with 5 home Foot- ball games in a row, followed by Northwestern Band Day. February 8 Mr. Harold I-Iillyer, Director of Bands at Eastern Illinois University, visited our school all day and then guest conducted at the Winter Band Concert that night. In March We-go's band was once again a success with Tom Bowen, Gail Olsen, Kevin Tisset, a brass sextet, and a clarinet trio placing first in the State Music Contest. In April the band participated in the Fox Valley Music Festival, and in June they ended the year with a final Spring Concert where they recognized the .Fe it fi is 9651 senior class for its outstanding leadership. Rlckleman, +22 The Math Department covered everything from the real world of computers to the not-so-real world of the fourth and fifth dimensions. Students had many opportunities to compete this year, beginning on March 8 with the National Math Contest CHigh scorers pictured belowl. Then on March 17 twenty-nine We-Go Mathaletes competed in the first annual DePage Valley Math Contest. K. Hodges, P. Kerstan, R. Morgan, M. Mussman, and C. Pieratos had perfect scores. In April Math Dept. teachers F. Burzynski, R. Stevens, and L. Yunker lectured at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, on com- puter literacy for all high school students. R. Lemon lectures to an amused C. Orchestra New activities included a Fall Orchestra and Choir Concert and the participation of the string players in a String Orchestra Clinic at N. U. on Jan. 9. In March the Orchestra 'ttraded assembly concerts with Barrington High School. On March 5 at Rochelle We-go participated in the State Music Contest.
