The first two floors are co-ed while the remaining floors are totally female. Its most distinguishing character- istic is its loud music on the second floor and cold showers during the winter. 21 SCHMIDT Schmidt Hall is the only single sex dormitory re- maining on the campus. For women only, it is the farthest dormitory from campus and provides a homelike atmosphere for its residents due to its brick walls and spacious rooms. But no males with- out an escort. ■lai imi 22 fttora 23 24 25 KILLINGER Killenger Hall, a three story dorm Is located on Rosedale Ave. where the football field once stood. Previously known as the all male dorm, Killenger is now the home of honor students. 26 27 TYSON Tyson Hall, the sister dorm to Ramsey and Goshen halls is a eight story co-ed dormi- tory. ' JVU NAACP The NAACP on this campus has striver o preserve black civil rights for all black students. They have also strived to help the black community in the West Ches- ter area. The main goals of the NAACP is to help black students and communities to join together to advance in a world that is sometimes prejudical and cruel. They believe that in numbers and unity all blacks can over- come the problems that face them in society today and in the future. The NAACP this semester aided the BSG in many of its activities. It sponsored a charity basketball game to raise money for scholarship funds. It also had a lecture by Dr. Frank Snowden for human rights service, voter registration drives, and lecturers. In the Fall, the NAACP had banquets in which impor- tant individuals in the college and West Chester com- munity met and established a common bond. So here is a salute to the NAACP of West Chester State College for its contributions to the community and black stu- dents on campus. Gina Chapman, Robin Green. Janie Jones, Fred Odom, Cheryl Peoples, Dana Waller, Mrs. Grice (Adviser) 334 BSU The Black Student Union is an ethnic orga- nization involved in black education, unity, and power in this society. They stress to students that they must get involved in so- ciety in order to achieve success and happi- ness. The BSCl also stresses to students to vote and let your voice be heard by those people who are responsible for handling po- litical and educational decisions that may affect their lives. The BSU has sponsored many programs this year at West Chester State College. They sponsored an award banquet, theatre productions, musical con- certs, voter registration, dance parties, and went to Harrisburg on numerous occas- sions for political conventions and confer- ences. They also worked closely with CAS in their voter registration drive and other political activities which were beneficial to all students on this campus.
