(Dmiemion we dedicate the 1978 Serpentine to ©r. Thomas Elliott IBerry. It is with much respect and admiration that we dedicate the 1978 SERPENTINE to Dr. Thomas Elliott Berry. He has been an outstanding member of the English Depart- ment for thirty-two years, an accomplished author, a con- stant source of inspiration to many students, and a friend to all. Dr. Berry began his teaching career at West Chester in September, 1946. He served as a faculty advisor to the Quad Angles from 1950-1968. In 1959, he set up the Graduate Program at West Chester and was selected as its first Director. He served in this capacity until 1972, and then returned to full-time teaching. As an author, Dr. Berry has currently written ten books. Two of these books: Values in American Culture and Journalism In America are used as basic texts at Cam- bridge University, England. Journalism In America was also chosen as the best book in its category for 1976 by the United States Information Agency. Dr. Berry is a true source of admiration and knowledge. He ' s an excellent teacher, advisor, and friend. He is a unique individual, a seeker of wisdom, and a true scholar. four
