Tliroughoiit his four years at West Chester, the in- di idual is showered with a myriad of impressions. These impressions, of course, ar - from day to day in both nature and importance. Their force of impact also vary, depending upon the situation. The result is a stream-of-consciousness effect in which these impressions are catalogued, utilized, and sometimes adopted per sc into tlie individual ' s personality and his outlook on life. Thus, we can say that he is, in fact, a product of all that he encounters. College life has been especially valuable because of the richness and the variety of experiences it offers. Of course, classroom activity contributes much toward the individual ' s development; perhaps he has learned more through exposure to all the differ- ent sets of values he has encountered in the dormi- tory, at the lunchtable, or perhaps in the various activities, organizations, and sports in which he has participated. The result of this constant ex- posure is that he is then able to redefine his own values and attain a self-concept and an identity of which he can be proud. It is this identity, this in- dividuality, that the 1967 Serpentine is presenting as its theme. The aim has been to characterize the indi idual in all phases of his life at West Chester and to emphasize the principle that, througli this involvement, he emerges a single separate person.
