ALL STAR EVENTS The joint recital of Leon Fleisher and Leonard Rose provided the student body with a rare treat. The blending of the piano with the cello by these two artists only accentuated their individual skills, which they so read- ily exhibited earlier in their performance. William Steinberg, conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony, appeared in the Philips Memorial Auditorium on the last da ' of November. He and his or- chestra staged an inspiring performance, noted as a musical highlight. The Robert Shaw Chorale, perhaps the world ' s greatest choral group, an- nounced the coming of spring at W.C. Returning from his European tour, Jose Limon staged a repertoire of modem dance. 32 The four annual attractions presented on the campus under the sponsorship of the Student Activities Association and under the name of the All Star Program were awaited by the en- tire student body and many friends in the community of West Chester. All types of head- line entertainment were brought to the campus in this manner. Such celebrities as Bambi Lynn, Rod Alexander, and Carmen Amaya were previous members of these programs. This year we were privileged to witness those above .

GOLDEN RAMPAGE The homecoming at West Chester State College was symbolized by Golden Rampage Weekend. Frida ' night began the weekend with a parade including floats and walking groups. Following the parade was the football game between West Chester and Kutztown. Cheers rang clear and joys enthralled everyone during the game. Saturda featured more enthusiasm with a jazz session, recreational activi- ties and athletic events; and climaxed with the Rampage Dance. Guests in semi-formal attire danced to the music of Tommy Dorsey ' s Orchestra under the direction of Warren Covington. The Field House was filled with happy couples whirling under banners and goal posts. Highlighting the night was the crowning of the Rampage Queen. The im- pressive theme of Past Victories helped to create an imaginative picture of the world famous games. Pictured with the Rampage Queen, are the candidates for Rampage Queen. Left to right: A. Taglieri, L. Biborosch, M. Rose, Queen Helen, E. Scalise, R. Stuart, G. Clarke, and last, L. Fuss. The music for the Rampage Dance was provided by Tomm ' Dorsey ' s Orchestra conducted by Warren Covington. As alumni, faculty, students, and friends danced to the musical sounds, tlie theme, The Olympics, was portrayed. The climax of this weekend was tlie crowning of the first Rampage Queen, Helen Petrek, a Senior Elementary . 34
