DEAN OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS Dr. Earr F. Sykes, the Dean of Academic Affairs at West Chester State College, played an important role in the academic lives of the students. It was he who was re- sponsible for policies concerning the withdrawal from a course, the student absences, the change of curriculum in major and or minor fields, the College Scholarship Committee, and the system of de- termining grades. At the same time men and women students in need of employment to aid them in securing their education were re- ferred to Dr. Jack A. Owens, the Dean of Student Affairs. Through Dr. Owens many students secured work opportunities, scholarships, and loans.
