QUAD The student at West Chester is represented in the field of journalism through the publication of Quad Angles. This year the editors and the members of the staff have been very successful in printing the college paper every two weeks; formerly, it was a bi-monthly publication. Many changes have been made since the spring semester of 1953. The full four page publication of previous years has given way to a six page newspaper of better quality. This change has produced a finer campus news organ. These past years have witnessed major changes in the context of the paper, but tliese have in no way detracted from the high standards and reputation that are a part ot Quad. Fine editorials, feature articles, the very new and po)jular gossip column, sport stories, and a calendar of the week are but a few of the highlights of the ])aper. An added feature is a section devoted to former West Chester graduates, appropriately called News Briefs. Tuesday nights at the printers, last minute changes and revisions, endless proof reailing — all these are every day occurrences for the slalf of Quad Angles, an integral part of campus life. The editors and staff mem- bers, under the capable direction of Dr. Thomas K. Berry, endeavor to jiresent to the student issues of the most important events that take place in the various curricula — Secondary, Elementary, Music, and Health and Physical Education. Displaying its versatility. Quad acts as an advertis- ing agency. Without the advertisements we should never know what movies are playing up town. Since the size has been reduced, it has been necessary to cut some of the advertising. Who is responsible for seeing that the bills are paid? This responsibility rests with the Business Staff. Behind most organizations on campus there are a few loyal members who receive none of the glory, but who do a large share of the work. Quad Angles is no excep- tion to this rule. A little publicized, yet extremely hard working group, is the Business Staff of the college news- paper. It is they who make the publication of the paper possible by getting advertisements, straightening out the mailing list, juggl ing expenses, and doing all those imiumerable little jobs that publishing a newspaper entails. Although usually in the background, this part of the Quad, Angles staff decides such problems as the number of publications the budget can carry each year. The Quad Angles Business Staff holds the reins on the ambitious Editorial Staff, but their mutual harmonious attitude for the production of a worthwhile news organ has led to a highly successful and popular publication. LITTLE THEATER This year, as in the past, the Little Theater of West Chester has been instrumental both in providing entertainment for the college students and in serving as the medium for the display of many of the students fine talents. The members prepared ■ i ell. Book, and Candle for the annual Parents Weekend in the fall semester. Working unceasingly to entertain the college and friends of the college with a varied selection of plays are two groujis. the actual |)layers and the stage committees. Miss Dorothy Ramsey lends a helping hand in the ohtaining of properties and in the costuming of plays. Inder the always creative and artistic direction of Miss Fern Harrer. the trou))e presented A Midsummer Night s Dream, ' The izard of Oz. ' and Everyman. 26
