Under the capable leadership of coaches Oliver and Serff and co-captains John Huber and Jim Facciolli the Warrior soccer team completed a most successful season by tying Pequea Valley for the Inter-district co-championship. Prior to this the Booters had beaten Kennett Square to become co-champions of the Southern Chester County League and captured the District crown by defeating Lower Merion. The Booters’ final record was twelve wins, three losses, and three ties and their league record was eight wins, one loss, and one tie. With only six seniors leaving the varsity team, the prospects for a successful 1961 season are very bright. SOCCER FRONT ROW: L. Wheeler, S. Dorsey, R. Wager, L. Gerhard, D. Russ, C. Fox, C. HOCKEY VARSITY LEFT TO RIGHT: M. Strode, M. Rowland, E. Wager, C. Kramer, M. Treston, S. Wesley. J. Dam. J. Miller, M. Melton, A. Reilly, B. Wilson, S. Quillen, P. Bohannon, B. Leighton. The hockey team of I960 was one of the most successful in the history of West Chester High School. In the first game of the season they defeated Conestoga for the first time in five years. They went on to defeat Downing- town, Owen J. Roberts, Boyertown, Phoenixville, and Coatesville. The only defeat in league competition was Pottstown, 0-1. A combina- tion of outstanding teamwork and coaching made such a successful season possible. The final record was seven wins and one loss. Although many team members will grad- uate, coaches Clark and Weir feel that with the basis of a good junior varsity season the varsity can have a winning record in 1961. Mardell Rowland, senior warriorette, lunges to stop the surge tor goal made by an opponent, Mardell is one of the seniors who led the team in their many victories. 21
