WEST CHESTER CHRISTIAN CONQUEROR “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14) For every Christian, striving “onward and upward” for the Lord, who has given him the gift of eternal life, must be his daily goal. In each area of our lives our ultimate purpose must be to please Him who has called us. At West Chester Christian School, we have been given the knowledge to enable us to strive. It is now our re- sponsibility to use this knowledge to continue “onward and upward” for Him. 7' DEDICATION Long after we have left the halls of W.C.C.S., we will retain vivid memories of this dedicated teacher. Combining her talent with caring, she seeks to bring out the best her students have to give. Her influence can be felt from our Kindergarten days to our Senior year. She and her husband will be greatly missed when they leave the W. C. C.S. family to begin in a new work for the Lord in Irvine, California. With love and grateful appreciation, we dedicate the 1985 Conqueror to Mrs. D ’Arcangelo. We were sorry to see Mark go after spending his ninth grade year with us, but we were even more surprised to see him on the first day ot our senior year. It did not take long, though, for Mark to make up for the time he had lost. Through sports and other extra-curricular activities, he picked up where he had left off in building friend- ships with other members of the class. After grauda- tion, Mark plans to serve his country and his Cod in the Army Reserve and after getting settled there, he will begin his college education. “I would like to especially thank my Guardians foi their concern by providing me with a Christian edu cation during my schooling years. ” . Blessed are they that hear the word of God, ani keep it.” Luke 11:28b Choir 12; Special Choir 12; Soccer 12. MARK LEE ANDERSON Well, what can we say about this guy that he has not already said himself. Never at a loss for words, Paul has made for himself the reputation of a spur-of-the- moment comedian. Hopefully he will be able to con- trol his gift of making others double over with laughter as he moves on to the more mature and refined world of Bob Jones University. Studying Ac- counting and Computer Science should give Paul plenty to laugh about. “Thanks to my very best friends: Mom, Dad, Joe, Tim, Sharon, and Carol. I love you all!” ‘‘Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are plea- sures for evermore. ” Psalm 16:11 Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Special Choir 10, 11, 12; Bas- ketball 10, 12; Soccer 9, 10; Play 11; Yearbook 11, 12; Years at WCCS 4. 18 PAUL GERARD BARNARD You’ve got to admit; when you picture someone hollaring at a basketball game, or arguing over a lost point on a test, Janice is not the one who comes to mind. Perhaps she can be described as “swift to hear and SLOW TO SPEAK” and when she does have something to say, you had better listen because she is not going to say it twice! Fortunately, a big mouth is not one of the requirements fo those who study cosmetology at Bob Jones University, so Janice should have no trouble at all. “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for all you have done for me and for sending me to a Christian school. I love you both very much. ” “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. ” Isaiah 40:31 Soccer Cheerleading 11; Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Years at WCCS 7. JANICE ELIZABETH BATEMAN If you were to ask one of her classmates how long Dianne has attended WCCS, they probably would not' realize that she has only completed two years here at the school. Although often missing from morning roll call in order to practice her trumpet tooting with the band, she will be as much a part of the laughter and pleasant memories as anyone else when reunion time rolls around. Dianne will carry with her the best of wishes from all her friends as she attends Pensacola Christian College in hopes of someday serving the Lord full time as a Missionary. “Mom and Dad, thank you for allowing me to come to West Chester Christian School. I love you. Thak you to the teachers and best wishes to all my friends. ” “For Cod, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of Cod in the face of Jesus Christ. ” II Corinthians 4:6 Band 11, 12; Choir 12. DIANNE RENAE BERNARD 19 BRIAN JOHN BURKE Some people are afraid of challenge, but Brian al- ways faces his battles head on. Even when the ene- my is closing in, Brian never throws in the towel. His firey, never-give-up attitude has made him a terror on any athletic field (or rink) and, in a more subdued way, has driven him to work hard in his school work. His explosive personality will surely drive him to great heights in his college studies as he learns Busi- ness Administration or Computer Science at The Kings College. “A big thanks to all my friends and family; you’re the best. ” “And Cod shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and their shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. ” Revelation 21:4 Basketball 9; Baseball 10, 11, 12; Soccer 9, 10, 11; Years at WCCS 5. Randy will not only be remembered for his great stature, which was quite evident on the basketball court, but also for his even greater character seen in the classrooms and halls each day. As president of the class throughout his high school years and cap- tain of the basketball team his senior year, he dis- played the strength and leadership of a true man of God. He will always be looked up to wherever he goes. “Thank you, Mom and Dad. I love you. ” “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: Because he trusteth in thee. ’’ Isaiah 26:3 Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Special Choir 10, 11, 12; Bas- ketball 9, 10, 11, 12; Baseball 11, 12; Soccer 9, 10, 11, 12; Yearbook 11, 12; Years at WCCS 13. 20 ROBERT RANDALL CARMAN Why is the hallway filled with smoke? Is the school burning down? No, it’s just another one of Wayne’s Physical Science experiments. It was certainly a very interesting year for Wayne and the students of the Physical Science class. As assistant to Mr. Brain, (or was it the other way around?) Wayne was quite successful in communicating with his students. Of course that is no surprise to his classmates, who have all gotten to know Wayne for his way of getting the message across whatever the situation. Surely he will continue in his success as he attends Widener University shooting for a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Restaurant Management. Thanks, Mom, for all you’ve done. I love you. “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. ” II Corinthians 8:9 Yearbook 12; Years at WCCS 4. WAYNE JOSEPH GAMBLE How could anyone ever forget “Ronnie”, the one who is responsible for bringing a little bit of Southern California into all of our lives. With her chic clothing and her unique spirit of pizaz, she added new life to our class. Although only at WCCS three years, she has become as much a part of the group as those who have been here since day one. Veronica will surely go on spreading smiles as she continues her education at Liberty Baptist College. “I’d like to thank everyone for making me feel wel- come here and making me a part of everything. Thanks to Mom and Dad!” “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. ” Psalm 37:4 Choir 10, 11, 12; Volleyball 10, 11, 12; Basketball 12; Yearbook 11. VERONICA THERESE GAYTAN MELISSA ANN GRAHAM The saying goes “good things come in small pack- ages’’ and how true that is. We at WCCS have a living reminder of this truth with us every day in Melissa. Perhaps there are some disadvantages to being a “little people’’ (like when we put her purse on the top shelf), but Melissa makes up for her little body with her giant heart. As Editor-in-Chief of the 1985 Conqueror, Melissa demonstrated that she can be trusted with a big persons job. She also deserves credit for excelling in her studies earning a top rank in her class. It is our hope that Melissa's success continues as she attends Cederville College. “Mom and Dad, I want to thank you for giving me an excellent Christian education. I love you. ” “Ye are of Cod, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. ” I John 4:4 Choir 11; Yearbook 11, 12; Years at WCCS 7. Now-a-days dedication in workers is pretty hard to come by, but there are those rare people who are truly dedicated to their work. If you are looking for someone like this, look no farther. Kim is just the girl you want. Completing high school has never been easy, but to keep up with your assignments while impressing your boss at a part time job requires work, which is something Kim is not afraid of. When Kim goes to Bob Jones University to study Account- ing, the sky will be her limit. It will be no surprise to her classmates when she achieves her goal of serving the Lord as a Certified Public Accountant. “I praise the Lord that my dad loved me enough to send me to WCCS. I love you, Dad!! “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. ” Philippi- ans 4:11-13 Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Special Choir 10, 11, 12; Bas- ketball 9; Yearbook 11, 12; Years at WCCS 5. KIMBERLY ANN GREISING Out of some twenty-four preacher s kids at WCCS, Jeff has got to be the one most associated with the title. Even though he sometimes felt that those let- ters “P.K. ’’following his name did nothing but bring him trouble, he definitely has brought a measure of honor to the post. If your day is dull or the conver- sion a bore, you can always rely on this P.K. for a humorous tale from one of his 2340 days (13 years) here at West Chester Christian School. Jeff will proudly carry his title on as he attends Bob Jones University to study Music History, and Political Sci- ence for a career in Politics. “Mom and Dad, thanks for loving me enough to send me to a Christian School. I love you very much. ” “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way ‘ by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. ’ Psalm 119:9-11 Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Special Choir 10, 11, 12; Bas- ketball 9, 12; Baseball 12; Soccer 9, 11, 12; Play 11, 12. If you get excited about things like the Flyers, soccer season with Mr. Murphy, and 1968 Camaros, then you have something in common with Jim. One of the first to go all the way through West Chester Chris- tian School, Jim will always be remembered for his hard work in school and on the athletic field. His enthusiasm will be a big help to him in whatever he does. “Thanks, Mom and Dad, for sending me to WCCS. It has been great! I love you. Thanks to all my friends for all the fun times. ” “In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths. ” Proverbs 3:6 Basketball 9, 10, 11, 12; Baseball 10, 11, 12; Soc- cer 9, 10, 11, 12. JAMES WARREN HAMMILTON 2} LEE SHEARER JOHNSON, JR. Tfte truth is, we did not quite know what to expect when we learned that we were getting a new class- mate from “the other side”, but when Tracy came to our school from Calvary Christian, we were all pleasantly surprised, especially Lee! Tracy will sure- ly continue to charm her peers as she attends Bob Jones University to study Secretarial Science. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways ac- knowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. ” Prov- erbs 3:5, 6 “Thank you Mom and Dad, for all you have done for me. You are both very special. I love you. ” Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Soccer Cheerleading 11; Bas- ketball Cheerleading 12; Years at WCCS 31 2. What a character! We will all long remember “J” for his enthusiastic participation both on the athletic field and in lunchtime conversation. Unfortunately, “Leeman” will have to find someone else beside Karen to “hook him up” with his daily lemonade when he goes to college to study Political Science. “Mom and Dad, your financial and parental support ( through my academic years is greatly appreciated. A sincere thanks to my family and grandmother. ” ( “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteouas Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, ( but unto all them also that love His appearing. ” II Timothy 4:5-8 Basketball 9, 10, 11, 12; Baseball 12; Soccer 9, 11, 12; Yearbook 10, 11, 12; Years at WCCS 7. TRACY LEE JOHNSON 24 STEPHANIE KRIVULKA Being the new face in a crowd is always hard but Stephanie made herself right at home here at WCCS. Getting vigorously involved as a cheerlead- er, she quickly became one of the gang. ‘Adjusting to the new surroundings will certainly not be a problem to her as she goes to Baptist Bible College to major in Elementary Education. “Thanks a million, Mom and Dad, for everything you’ve sacrificed to allow me to attend WCCS. It’s been the best year of my life. A special thanks to the Seniors and Cheerleaders for making me feel wel- come and helping me to fit in. ” “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlast- ing. ” Psalm 139:23-24 Choir 12; Soccer Cheer 12; Basketball Cheer 12. Unceasingly displaying a sensitive and caring spirit, Karen has shared with her classmates her gift of true inner beauty. Throughout her four years at WCCS, Karen has always sought for ways to help those around her even though her efforts often went unno- ticed. Her patient spirit will be a valuable asset to her as she plans to attend Pensacola Christian Col- lege majoring in Speech Therapy for a career help- ing handicapped children. “I love you, Mom and Dad. ” “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. ” Romans 12:1 Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Play 11; Yearbook 11, 12. KAREN ELIZABETH MESSINA 25 JAMES BRIAN MURRY If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself; that is, unless Jim is around. Jimmy, as he is more affectionately known by his high school sweetheart, does the job right. This fact has been clearly displayed every nine weeks of his eleven and a half years hear at WCCS. His quest for excellent marks will continue to keep him busy as he goes to Pensacola Christian College to study to be a college professor. “Thank you for the sacrifices you have made to send me to West Chester Christian all these years. I love you, Mom and Dad!” “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Special Choir 9, 10, 11, 12; Basketball 9, 10, 11, 12; Baseball 9, 10, 11, 12; Soccer 9, 10, 11, 12. Allen will probably never be a “Mean Joe Green or an “Andre the Giant”, but he certainly does have the potential to be a “Thomas Edison” or maybe even an “Albert Einstein. ” We may find it hard to physically look up to Allen, but when it comes to understanding pre-Calculus, Allen stands high above us. When Allen goes to Pennsylvania Institute of Technology to study Electronic Engineering, he should have no trouble at all. “Thanks, Mom and Dad for all your sacrifices to allow me to attend a good Christian school. ” “What! Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. ” I Corinthians 6:19- 20 Baseball 12; Soccer 9; Years at WCCS 6. 26 ALLEN SCOTT RASH If you want to know more about the M-X missle, or how to do your homework on a Commodore 64, or what science fiction movie is on next Friday night, then Dave is the man to see. After hearing what he thinks we should do with the Russians, you might want to stay away, but then you would miss out on one of the sharpest minds around. Fighter planes will have to take a back seat, though, when David studies Electronic Engineering for two years at the Penn State Extension Campus and then two years at Temple. After four years of engineering, he plans to study Law. “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for all you have done and gone through for me. I love ya lots. To all my friends: thanks for everything. ” “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. ” Philippians 1:21 Basketball 9; Soccer 9; Years at WCCS 8. DAVID MICHAEL TUTLO You don’t have to make a lot of noise to get atten- tion. You just have to say the right thing at the right time. If you do not agree, just take a good look at Greg. He’s got the grades. He’s got the girls. What more could you ask for? And Greg got none of it by being a loud-mouth or a class clown, just by being a nice guy. Watch out all you nice guys at Pensacola Christian College because Greg is on his way. He will be studying Accounting and Computer Science and he’s not foolin’ around. “Mom and Dad, thanks so much for everything you have done for me at WCCS. ” “According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.” Phillippians 1:20 Choir 11, 12; Special Choir 12; Basketball 9, 12; Baseball 9, 10, 11, 12; Soccer 9, 10, 11, 12; Year- book 12; Years at WCCS 8. GREGORY PAUL WELDON 27 Boy, would you be surprised if you could get to know the REAL Beth Willis! Throughout all of her 13 years here at WCCS, “Willis” has presented a meek and quiet spirit to those who merely brush the surface, but to those who take the time to get to know her, she displays her fun-loving, exuberant personality. An outsider might think Beth totally inward and quiet but her classmates who are with her each day certainly know better. Fun and games are not the only thing on Beth’s agenda, though, as she hopes to study Cosmetology at Bob Jones Uni- versity after graduation. “Thanks, Mom and Dad, forgiving me a good Chris- tian education and thanks to all my friends for help- ing me through all these years. I never would have made it without you. ” “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.” Psalm 62:2 Choir 10, 11, 12; Yearbook 12. BETH ANN WILLIS 28 Romans 8:28 Stephen Chandler Ericson Born August 24, 1968 Accepted Christ December 1976 Went Home to be with his Lord September 19, 1984 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. ” GOD IS IN CONTROL It seemed like just an accident What happened that awful night. How You changed our happiness Into terrible fright! You showed Your Awesome power Like You never had before. We weren’t sure that hour What You might have in store. Many times I looked off in the sky — Asking often the question, Why? ft seemed I couldn't understand How something like this could be in Your plan. But I know, God, You’re in control, Tho’ others may often doubt. You’ve given me peace down in my soul That I couldn’t live without. I’ll just pray for others now; That they would be tender too — And listen to God’s loving voice; Telling them what to do. He has a plan for one and all. We must search for what it might be. So He may have the glory overall— And we can victorious be. ■ Craig Griffith 9 18 84 UNDERCLASSMEN ELEVENTH GRADE Patricia Andrews Tim Barnard Michael Burke Kevin Driscoll Joe Fisher Tim Gaytan Craig Griffith Debbie Hamilton Jason Jarvis Melissa Jenkins Pauline Krivulka Carl McIntyre Debra Murry Bill Oesterwind Shelly Osborn Tim Osman Michelle Perkins Joanna Pollock Diane Rainey Robert Rucci Diane Shank Mark Silcox Barry Simmons Scott Stefano Paula Weber Joe Whisler Ron Whitehead Kim Wilson Pamela Woolfrey 32 TENTH GRADE Tricia Adams Beth Burke Michael DiSipio Stephen Ericson Roger Frost June Gilbert Jennifer Griffith Stephanie Hess Tamara Horsfall Bonny Hies Jennifer Johnson Michael Kenepp Daniel Major Todd Manni Ricky McMillen Dan Obinger Cathy Roberts Cherie Roberts Paul Rucci Greg Saufley Deborah Shaw Sheryl Siner Ginny Speaker Brian Tutlo Jodi Watson Kristin Zern 33 NINTH GRADE Sharon Barnard John Bateman Mario Berardi Steven Conrad Clint Dantinne Jennifer Ericson Jenine Gaytan Dana Johnson Denise Kabakjian Stephanie Kenepp Diane Kephart Becky McMillen Cheryl Rash Frank Rawson Patrick Shannon Clay Weldon 34 EIGHTH GRADE Kristy Adams Kimberly Allen Jennifer Berardi Darren Boyce Dan Burry Aaron Coleman Colleen Conrad Matt Dantinne Deana DiSipio Richard Donnelly Jerome Fisher Buster Higgins Michelle Judy Charles Lollar George Lollar Trade Mahoney Chris Meshey Michael Pollock Brett Roberts Paula Jo Santino Robert Sarver Fred Shaw Leslie Siner Marc Tutlo Elizabeth Weaver Julie Weldon Connie Whitehead Kevin Zern 35 SEVENTH GRADE 36 Chris Barfield Cindy Bernard Brandon Booz Michael Brain Leanne Caroselli Alton Carter Curt Carter Tracyann Dean Rob Gilbert Todd Horsfall Bobby Kilpatrick Scott Kilpatrick Christopher Kondracki Sam Krivulka Tiffany Manni Kristen Moran Maxine Osborn Brian Palmer Derek San tan Brandon Schaap Michael Seace Tim Shank Tricia Shank Kathy Shannon Russell Snyder Lynleigh Stefano Mark Varner Nathan Walker Karen Wilson Robert Wohlfarth SIXTH GRADE No Photo Available No Pholo Available Carol Barnard Jeffrey Bateman Joseph Bell Damon Boor Tommy Bowman Jonell Brain John Burke David Coover Kenneth Delise Kenneth Donnelly Alison Graham Amy Griffith Dennis Higgins Laura Hunter Tara Johnson Douglas Judy Chantalle Kauffeld Kerin Kondracki Scott Mahoney Brook Mattocks Natalie Meeks Lisa Mitchell Roger Munson Henry Patterson Scott Polak Larry Rhode Kristen Saufley Shannon Schaap Larry Shaw Jennifer Smith Krista Smith Randall Snyder Steve Snyder Jaclyn Weber 37 FIFTH GRADE Jason Dalton Deana Frost Kevin Fryberger Keri Gillespie Brent Green Rebecca Grimm Erik Hansen Joseph Johnson Tom Kilpatrick Mary Krivulka Wendy Mahoney Gabriel Marinelli Meghan McNeill Karis Meshey Jennifer Ruoff Brandon Santan Rachel Saufley Richard Simes Ruthann Smith Sherri Sweeny Stephen Walker Jeffrey Webster Jamie Wendorf Michael Williams Scott Wohlfarth Fred Wurster FOURTH GRADE Mindy Belt Mike Bowman Lynet Brown Bonnie Buchanan Richard Coulter Wade Dantinne Thad Fisher Kory Fryberger Dean Gilbert Kimberly Griffith Julie Grimm Tara Hickethier Heather Hinkson Chris Jenkins Rachel Jones John Kauffeld Erica Kenepp Aaron King James King Janelle Mattocks Jeremy Mitchell Jennifer Munson Jamie Pavillard Kimberly Rhode Laura Roderer Darlene Shank Stephen Smith Matthew Standeven Rebecca Sweitzer Bethany Walker Jonathan Weaver 39 THIRD GRADE 40 Ann Adams Becky Adams Michael Balint Nan Batzig Erin Behan Michelle Brown Nathan Brown David Crutchfield Robin Dantinne Becky Fisher Edward Gandy Nicole Gilbert Angela Gillespie Erin Green Melissa Hinkson Brian Huber Mark Jones Scott Major Kara Marinelli Joshua McNeill Walter Miehle Matthias Murphy Bridget Packet Danielle Parlett Laura Patterson Gayle Shaw Nicole Wagner Rachel Whisler Randy Whitehead SECOND GRADE David Barr Nicholas Batzig Robert Bayley Faith Buchanan Jason Coover Allen Delise Matthew Gyles Shalon Haysel Colleen Hopkins Kristen Hunter Matthew Huss Tonya Johnson Laurie King Colleen Marano Gregory Ruoff Zachary Shumoski Kayleen Smith Sharon Sweitzer Carrie Tyson Stephanie Tyson Matthew Wayman Corinne Wendorf Suzanne Wurster 41 FIRST GRADE 42 Richard Ainge Shannon Atene Susanne Balint Mark Barr Seth Booz Carrie Brown Kelly Brown Helena Corcoran Nikki Crutchfield Bobby Egenstafer Rebecca Gyles Karl Jaeger David Kauffeld Mark Kauffeld Heidi Kimmel Caleb Krivulka Christopher Kuc Garrett LaBrie George Magaw Lisa Marinelli John McDowell Tara McNeill Mandy Mongillo Micah Murphy Robin Reed Tony Saufley Brenda Saufley David Seace Timothy Simpson Abbie Silcox Christy Snyder Lori Toy Carolyn Vance David Webster Janne Zern Jonathan Zern KINDERGARDEN Matthew Barfield Richard Bayley Nathan Brain James Burke Wm. FEED ME! I'm SOOO embarrassed!! 49 TTTT 56 September 29, 1984, West Chester Chris- tian School held the annual Marathon Day. The students competed in volleyball, basket- ball, soccer, wiffleball, tag football, softball and some ran laps to raise money. This year, $2,700 was raised and used to buy lockers and other items for the locker rooms and the NEW gym. This year, along with the Marathon, the first annual Baking and Foul-shooting Contests were held. The winners of the Baking Contest were Kristin Zern and Tricia Adams (above). Jeff Griffith, Chris Meshey, Tricia Shank, and Darlene Shank (below) were the winners of the Foul-shooting Contest. Each year when Thanksgiving time comes around, the Elementary students at West Chester Christian get ready for the annual “Thanksgiving Day. ” The day before Thanksgiving, all Elementary students come to school dressed as Indians or Pilgrims. The activities this year included making apple cider, doughnuts, and a special craft. The most important part of the day was praising God for everything He has done for us. I Ik. ,4 On this election year, the Problems of Repub- lic class held a mock debate and election. The debate panel (left) consisted of Mr. Cleaver as moderator, Lee Johnson, Joanna Pollock, and Jim Murry. The candidates were Randy Car- man (below, left) representing Mr. Walter Mon- dale and Paul Barnard representing President Ronald Reagan. The winner of the mock elec- tion was President Reagan. g 5 fn g 59 Mrs. Simpson, Band Director. The week start- ed off with a “clash ” (Clash Day, that is.). Although there were many original outfits, Coleen Conrad took home the big, red bear for the clashiest outfit. This was only the beginning. Day two was Hat Day. You would never believe how many different hats can be found in one school! From the five foot sombreros to the terrible turbans, it was truly a sight to see. 50’s Day was a trip to the past. The greased hair, the bobby socks, and the saddle shoes helped make this day a memorable experience. Spirit Week truly helped break up the monotony of the long winter months. Our Editor-in- Chief, Melissa Graham, worked long hours trying to get the staff to do their work. The photographers clicked their cameras at sporting events, special occasions, and lunchtime. The bookkeeping staff kept all the finances straight, and Mrs. Huber went crazy! Thanks, Mrs. Huber, for all your help! John 5:12 90 “0 HOW TO GET TO HEAVEN FROM WEST CHESTER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Many people believe that going to a certain church is the right way to Heaven. Others say following the Golden Rule will get one to Heaven, and still others have neither cared nor considered where they will spend eternity. What about you? Have you ever wondered whether you are on the way to Heaven or Hell? Will your beliefs stand the test of the Holy Scriptures? In reality, Heaven, Hell, and eternity are matters too serious to trust to opinions and suppositions. Certainly coming to West Chester Christian School will never get you to Heaven, but the message pro- claimed from the Bible will clearly show there is only one way to heaven. In the fourteenth chapter of John, the Lord Jesus proclaimed to all the world that He was the only way. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man commeth to the Father, but by me. ” The punishment, the suffering, and the death of the Lord Jesus was God's way of opening the pathway of Heaven to you and to all who come. In John 10:1 Jesus said that he who comes some other way is a thief and a robber. In the fourth chapter of Acts the apostle Peter exclaimed that Jesus Christ was the only way of salvation. In God’s way of salvation, it is not how much you do, but how much the Lord Jesus did for you. The Scriptures present all men as sinners. (“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. ” Romans 3:23.) Because we are all sinners, Hell would be our final home. Once there, there is no second chance for repentance; only pain and torment will be our eternal destiny. The wonderful news is that God does not want anyone to go there. Romans 5:8 ways, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ” The Lord Jesus came to open the gates of Heaven to you and to your loved ones! You have a choice to make: accept or reject God’s wonderful plan of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. Wherever you are, whether in a car, at home, in school, or at work - just say this prayer in faith and be- lieve that God through Christ is able to save you. He promises to save you from eternal punishment in Hell and guarantees you an eternal home in Heaven. Pray this prayer and, if you believe it, you will become a child of God. Dear Lord, lama sinner and I know it. I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me. I believe He suffered and died in my place. I take His promise of salvation and accept Him as my own personal Savior and Lord. Help me to become the kind of Christian I should be and show me in the Word of God how to grow strong in my new life in Christ. Amen If you are presently in a church which does not preach the message you have just read, find a church that does. Your spiritual growth depends on it. The Bible Baptist Church welcomes your call by telephone or your presence at our services. May your future be based totally on the foundation of Christ and His blessed Word. 91 Foreign Domestic Fibergloss Repairs Ued RoJerer Jluio U3ody Repair Your Collision Specialist Insurance Claims 903 S Bolmar Street West Chester.
