John 8:36 If the Son, therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. The meaning of freedom, as offered by our Lord Jesus Christ, has been lost in a world of human philosophies and ideas where God has become an outcast. Freedom is now presented as an inalienable right to do whatever one wants to do, whenever and wherever he wants to do it. Freedom's advocates call for these rights to be granted in all aspects of our society including the church, the school and the street corner. Such terms as academic , intellectual and moral freedom have become familiar to all. In II Peter 2:18, 19 the apostle speaks clearly of this world's wise men when he says: For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wan- toness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promised them liberty they them- selves are the servants of corruption; for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. Today's cry for moral freedom , the right to do whatever one wants to do morally, is actually an admission of bondage to immoral- ity and a lack of power to overcome lust and wantoness. The Freedom offered by the Savior is not the right to do any- thing one wants; it is not a license to sin. True freedom is offered via the power of the indwelling Spirit of God to do what we ought. John 8:3 ...Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. Rom. 5 17, 18 But God be thanked, that where as ye were servants of sin, ye have obeyed from the heart That form of doctrine which was delivered by you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. The Christian is free in Christ to serve the living God and experience victory over the common enemies: the world, the flesh, and the Devil. May Satan's lie that the world offers freedom and Christ offers bondage fall on deaf ears at West Chester Christian School. Through Christ, ye shall be free indeed! Sincerely in Christ, A Pastor Allen Griffith 4

The Christian and His Nation Romans 13:1 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God. The Bible teaches that all power and rule in the entire world is from God, who is the Ruler of all the Universe (John 1:1-3). The Bible Principles ought to be the guide and basis for the leaders or rulers of every country in the world, including those in our nation. And each true Christian is to be obedient to his government, except when he is ordered by it to sin or when he is not allowed to live for Christ. The schools of our nation ought to be teaching these scriptural truths to the youth, and the result would be a God- honoring, blessed nation and people. (Psalm 33:12 - Proverbs 14:3 01 In these last days we are seeing our youth turning from learning to lawlessness, from righteousness to riots and from patriotism to pornography 1 This was predicted by the Apostle Paul for these days (2 Tim. 3:1-7). But oh how sad to see it rapidly increasing on all sides in our beloved nation. That's why I'm so thrilled and chal- lenged to see the training given to our students at WCCS. Not only are they given a thorough academic grounding (Proverbs 8); but they are also taught to adhere to the godly heritage of Bible Principles upon which our nation was founded - they are made familiar with our great patriots, leaders and statesmen, who made our country respected by all - and they are established in the principles of the true econo- mic theory of free-enterprise which made our country an economic power among all the peoples of the world. But most of all, they are taught respect for the authorities and laws of our nation as the Bible verse above (Romans 13:1) requires of every born-again Christian! Patriotism, law-abiding respect for authority and love of our country is an integral and vital part of the curriculum of WCCS and how this blesses the heart of any pastor, and pleases the Lord whom we love and serve I That's what this verse teaches and that is precisely what makes WCCS a school so important to you as a parent and to our young people who sire its students. May God bless and continue to enlarge the work to which the teachers and students of our school are called in the years ahead, until we see our Saviour face to face (I Tim. 4:12-15)!
