The second graders this year have experimented with many things. We tried to make paper mache turkeys. At Christmas time, we spent some time in making and decorating Christmas cookies. We are learning to write in cursive. We hope to start learning how to multiply. Later in the year we will be taking a short field trip to a science museum. 31

We practiced being pilgrims at Thanksgiving by making biscuits and butter. The first graders held a farewell party in January for John Kascur who moved to California. They plan on field trips to the library, police station, and fire department. 30

Come and visit our third grade class. On Missionary Monday inspir- ing missionary stories are read, letters to missionaries are written and prayer is offered. Various types of poetry are shared during Tuesday Rhyme Time. Wednesday our thoughts turn towards the world around us. Prayer is made for the leaders of our land. News articles are read and discussed. Thursday may be the day we will have hatch- a-fact. Children take turns open- ing a plastic egg which contains an interesting new fact. Friday free reading and our art class are two special features ; of the week. I hope you have enjoyed your visit to our class. 32
