1 ‘dedication This year we honor those whose love is readily seen through the sacrifice and devotion given to rear their child- ren in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. As the students grow and realize the truth of the verse, Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it, they will appreciate fully the wis- dom of those who have sent them to West Chester Christian School and trained them in the home to serve the Lord. The 1975 Conqueror staff proudly dedicates this book to the PARENTS of the West Chester Christian school students. 3 BIBLE BAPT 1ST CHU R CH Pastor E. Allen Griffith The West Chester Christian Schools are owned and oper- ated by the Bible Baptist Church, located at 1237 Paoli Pike, West Chester, Pa. Grades PK-5 meet in these facilities. Proposed new All-Purpose Build- ing to be built in 1975 by Bible Baptist Church. West Chester Christian Schools are co-sponsored by Bible Covenant Baptist Church, which is located at 5 +2 South New Middletown Road, Media, Pa. Grades 6-12 meet in these facilities. BIBLE COVENANT BAPTIST CHURCH Pastor Robert G. Walter 4 West Chester Christian School - an educational outreach of Bible Baptist Church - 1237 Paoli Pike, West Chester, Pa. 19380 Phone: 6924492 Dear Seniors, The preeminent goal we have tried to instill in you is how to live for the Lord Jesus Christ. The Staff has earnestly tried to prepare you for the battles of life as you move out on your own. We have not tried to shel- ter you, but to guide you and prepare you in every way for the challenges ahead. You were given to your parents by God to train up and nurture in the admonition of the Lord. With love and concern they have purposely built several fences around you. The first fence'is .a godly Christian home. With the home, they have added the second fence - a good Bible-believing church. These two institutions have been ordained of God to teach you a Biblical approach to life. Your parents realized as good stewards the need of one more fence - a Christian education. Here at WCCS you have learned the academics of life with a strong Bibli- cal emphasis. These three fences have protected you in your early childhood and adolescent years while giving the Word of God the rightful place. When temptations come it will be this very Word of God, hidden in your heart, which will enable you to withstand the world, the flesh, and the devil. We send you forth with one constant prayer, that you will put on the whole armor of God. May this final verse be your shield as it has been mine. Finally, Brethren, whatsoever things are true, ...honest, ... just, ...pure, ...lovely, ...of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. The class prepares the children both mentally and physically for their school experiences. The daily schedule includes Bible stories, language skills, number and reading readiness, and muscle coordination skills. The class has enjoyed pop- ping popcorn, toasting and eating pumpkin seeds, baking Christmas cookies, and planting and watching flowers grow. In the spring we will be taking several field trips. 28 Front Row: D. Kephart, S. Delaney, J. Griffith, R. McMillen, V. Speaker. Second Row: P. Fetterolf, J. Watson, Miss Lewis, C. Holmes, D. Cowart. The Kindergarten Class at West Chester Christian School has al- ready learned the sounds of ten letters of the alphabet. We read our first real story which was more fun than just reading words. Our special units planned for this year are Keep Healthy, Transporta- tion, Our Five Senses, Let's Play Safe, and The Form. Special projects like writing stories, drawing pictures, making murals, and watching interesting films are included in our study of each of these topics. We are anticipating the Lord's continued blessing upon our class as we learn many new things and grow to trust Him more each day. 29 Front Row: Miss Hopson, H. Follette, B. Biehl, N. Vance, D. This year the first grade began putting sounds together to form words. They learned to add and sub- tract from 1 to 20. We practiced being pilgrims at Thanksgiving by making biscuits and butter. The first graders held a farewell party in January for John Kascur who moved to California. They plan on field trips to the library, police station, and fire department. 30 Front Row: C. Glass, B. Beck, J. Hamilton, B. Johnson, S. Walls B. A. Willis. Second Row: R. Carman, V. Collins, Miss Cole, M. Piotrowski, J. Griffith. Absent: J. Barr, J. Murry. The second graders this year have experimented with many things. We tried to make paper mache turkeys. At Christmas time, we spent some time in making and decorating Christmas cookies. We are learning to write in cursive. We hope to start learning how to multiply. Later in the year we will be taking a short field trip to a science museum. 31 Front Row: W. Caroselli, T. Armstrong, M. Muller, J. Rawson, R. Vance, K. McMlllen. Second Row: Miss Dear, S. Palmer, J. Tar- botton, J. A. Collins, J. Jones, B. Johnson. Come and visit our third grade class. On Missionary Monday inspir- ing missionary stories are read, letters to missionaries are written and prayer is offered. Various types of poetry are shared during Tuesday Rhyme Time. Wednesday our thoughts turn towards the world around us. Prayer is made for the leaders of our land. News articles are read and discussed. Thursday may be the day we will have hatch- a-fact. Children take turns open- ing a plastic egg which contains an interesting new fact. Friday free reading and our art class are two special features ; of the week. I hope you have enjoyed your visit to our class. 32 Front Row: Miss Boston J. Simmons, T. Pollock, E. Johnson, D. Silcox, M. B. McMillen. Second Row: L. Shank, D. Foster, C. Fehl, L. Hall, R. We also had our second annual hobby day which included some fourth graders. We will be par- ticipation in Culture Week in March which is something new for the elementary school. Something else that is new this year is the arrival of a student teacher from Baptist Bible College. Mr. Dale Bower is spending seven weeks learning about classroom procedure. A first at West Chester Christian School this year was the for- mation of the Student Council. This new organization is comprised of representatives from the student body for the purposes of expressing the ideas of the students and helping the administration in different areas of school life. Several committees have been organized to meet some of the needs of the school and to plan various activities in the school. A president and vice-president, as well as a secretary and treasurer, have been elected from the student body. The Student Coun- cil did a commendable job this year, but hopes to accomplish even greater things next year. Lv -4. A .
