JUNIOR HIGH AWARDS Wilma McBride CITIZENSHIP Robert Vargason CITIZENSHIP Judy Taylor SCHOLARSHIP HOMECOMING 196 2 Homecoming, 1962, passed leaving a fond memory with everyone. The queen candidates, the snake dance and bonfire, the football game and home- coming dance all added together to make homecoming a success. The homecoming festivities began Thursday evening with a snake dance led bY Paul Thompson. At a bonfire later in the evening the coaches and queens each said a few words about the following nights game. School was dismissed at 2:00 for the parade and a pep meeting in frontof the community hall. Each class presented a skit in keeping with the spirit of homecoming. The skits were judged by Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Baker, and Miss Burget. The freshman class received first prize. During the half time ceremonies the queen candidates were introduced. The moment everyone had been waiting for came when Gary Gamier, President of the Student Council, crowned Judy Brownell 'Homecoming Queen of 1962'. Judy reigned over the remainder of the game and the dance. The WC boys lost a heart-breaking game to Waukon, 7-6. Following the game, a home- coming dance was held in the community hall. The queen, Judy Brownell, and her escort, Neal Meyer, led the grand march. The dance brought the 1962 Homecoming to a close. The queen awaits . . . . . . the grand march.
