eme meows 1002 Schools CO-EDITORS: Gayela Bruner, Helen Kauten FOREWORD There is a road for us all. Filled with obstacles high. Will you take time to move them Or just try and get by? Will you work and study With an open mind. Or will you let others lead 'Cause it's easier to lag behind? You seniors have reached A bend in the road. Will you stop and loiter Or keep pulling the load ? The roots of education Are bitter indeed. But the fruit is sweet. And great is the need. Choose your road, students; Travel it high and wide. With help from West Central, You'll take it in stride. Harry Arthur..........President Emilie Bencke.........Secretary W.P. True8dell............Supt. The student body met Thursday night for the pep meeting. The dismal rain cancelled the snake dance but failed to dampen the spirit of the WC followers. Short talks were given by some of the players and the coaches, followed by a short skit and re- freshments. Friday, the queen Laurel Woods, was selected from a group of candidates by the student body. Candidates were: Jean Nus, Laurel Woods, Sherla Beman, Barbara Ross, Patricia Shadle, Sandra Fick, and Judy Derr. The big night arrived and the Blue Devils rolled over Sumner 47-0 before a fabulous array of home- coming spectators. Halftime of the game was highlighted by the crowning of our homecoming queen by the football team co-captains, John Arp and Steve Kaune. The dance which followed the game was a fitting conclusion to the homecoming festivities. The community hall was beautifully decorated with blue and white streamers with glittering stars ad- ding the final touches. Candidates: Pat Shadle, Sherla Beman, Sandi Fick, Jean Nus, Judy Derr, Laurel Woods, Barb Ross The queen and her court prepare to lead the grand march. The grand march! ! ? ? John Arp intercepted a Valley pass and returned it 65 yards for the long- est intercepted pass runback. Mick Lamphier received a pass from Arp against Fayette and took it 44 yards for touchdown. The undefeated team's net yardage for the year was 2, 508 to 1,076 yards for their opponents. Their average yardage per game was 313. 5 yards to 134. 2 yards for their opponents. JohnArpled the conference in scoring with 11 touchdowns and 13 extra points for a total of 79 points. He was followed by Mick Lamphier with 58 points for second place in the conference scoring.
