Reserve and freshman teams show potential The 1966-67 season was encouraging to Mr. Slowinski and his Junior Varsity basketball team. The reserves had to overcome from the start of the season the handicaplof having lost three players to the varsity. The outlook was bright after winning the first game ofthe season, 40-37 over Union. They managed to win three more games against Muskegon Catholic 74-59, Union 57-39, and Central 62-48. Bob Petronis provided the scoring for the sophs averaging l7.5 points a game. lnstead of being discouraged during a losing season, the team never lost its spirit. With the experience gained and the hustle and determination Mr. Slowinski instilled in them, these boys should be of great help to the varsity in the coming years. The Freshman Falcons had a heartbreaking season. Coached by Mr. Champion, the 'frosh finished with a deceiving 3-7 record. After two opening losses, the Little Falcons were determined to gain a victory. They played a strong game against Ottawa only to lose by one point. With each game the Freshmen gained con- fidence and valuable experience. As the season went on Coach Champion and his players were sure the elusive first win was within reach. Following another one point loss to Central, the Freshmen put forth a tremendous effort to win their first game, 24-22 over Union, and conquered Ottawa 32-29, and Central 59-48. Pat Fischer led the team in scoring while Rich Zambon and Rick De Vries led in rebounds.
